Abstract: An apparatus and method for generating a prescription form is disclosed. The method includes displaying a first menu containing a plurality of therapy menu items. The method also includes displaying a second menu containing at least one qualifier menu item. The method further includes displaying a third menu containing at least one drug menu item. The method includes, upon selection of a therapy menu item, a qualifier menu item, and a drug menu item, selecting a protocol including one or more patient specific pump parameters corresponding to the therapy menu item, the qualifier menu item, and the drug menu item. The method also includes displaying a prescription form including at least one of the one or more patient specific pump parameters.
Abstract: A method for associating medical devices is provided. The method can include providing a plurality of medical devices and each of the medical devices can include an accelerometer configured to measure spatial accelerations of the medical device. Each of at least two of the medical devices can measure with its accelerometer an acceleration pattern with respect to time. The method can include comparing for correspondence, according to defined correspondence criteria, the measured acceleration patterns, and associating all of the medical devices that measured acceleration patterns that satisfy the defined correspondence criteria. The method can also include modifying a parameter of each member of a set of devices that are associated.

Abstract: A first call from a caller to a called party is forwarded to an agent at an answering service. A notification is received from the agent that a level of seriousness of the first call has become dire, and a second call is established between the agent and a crisis service having a crisis counselor that can provide assistance to the caller. The agent is connected into the second call only when the crisis counselor has acknowledged being available, and the second call is joined with the first call. The crisis counselor and the caller are allowed to speak directly by way of the joined calls, so that the crisis counselor can address the caller and attempt to convince same to avoid any activity that would be harmful thereto.

Abstract: An infusion pump includes a pumping mechanism having at least one sensor and a pump motor and a pump control subsystem configured to control operation of the pumping mechanism, the pump control subsystem including a processor, a memory, and a startup module configured to drive the pump motor at a first rate, receive input from the at least one sensor, and drive the pump motor at a second rate based on the input received from the at least one sensor. Startup algorithms command an infusion pump to reach a targeted delivery rate or steady state in minimal time without requiring priming of the pump line or otherwise engaging in known methods of pump startup analysis.

Abstract: A call center answers calls from callers reporting incidents and dispatch responders in response thereto. A computing system at the call center receives a particular call from a caller regarding a particular incident, and determines whether the particular call is an original call that is reporting the particular incident for a first time to the call center, or is a repetitive call that is reporting the particular incident after the original call for the particular incident has already been received by the call center. If an original call, the computing system forwards the particular call to an agent at the call center for further attention. However, if a repetitive call, the computing system diverts the particular call from the agent at the call center. Accordingly, the resources of the call center may be concentrated on original calls and away from repetitive calls.

Abstract: A pump has a housing having at least one inlet, one outlet, and an internal track with a given configuration. A piston movably positioned inside the housing has at least one protuberance movably mated to the track. As the piston is reciprocally driven by a motor, it is guided by the movement of the protuberance along the track to move bidirectionally along the housing and selectively rotate such that when the piston is moved to a first position, a fluid path is established through the inlet to enable fluid to be input into the housing. When the piston is moved to a second position, another fluid path is established through the outlet so that fluid is output from the housing. Multiple chambers may be formed in the housing to enable synchronous and selective opening and closing of respective inlets and outlets to enhance fluid flow.
Abstract: A medical infusion pump for delivering a medicament to a patient. The pump includes a user interface to display a choice of nominal medicament delivery rates. The user interface enables a practitioner to select one of the displayed nominal medicament delivery rates. It further enables the practitioner to enter a numerical multiplier factor, thereby creating a nominal delivery rate. It further enables the practitioner to create a custom alphanumeric string that the practitioner associates with a patient characteristic, enter a numeric value relating to the patient characteristic, and determine an actual delivery rate by modifying the selected nominal medicament delivery rate based on the numeric value relating to the patient characteristic. The pump mechanism is then controlled to deliver medicament from a reservoir to a patient at the actual delivery rate.
Abstract: To respond to a call from a client to an organization, the call is directed to a lower-level agent associated with the organization for answering thereby. The lower-level agent employs a computing system of the organization, where the computing system includes an actuation device for initiating contact with a higher-level agent of the organization if it is determined that the calling client is calling regarding a matter worthy of escalation from the lower-level agent to the higher-level agent. A selection from the lower-level agent is received during the call of the actuation device to escalate the call from the lower-level agent to the higher-level agent, and in response to the received selection of the actuation device the call is escalated from the lower-level agent to the higher level agent.

Abstract: A full body convective blanket has a head portion, a body portion and a foot portion. The head and foot portions each taper in a decreasing manner from a corresponding opposite side of the body portion to the head and foot ends, respectively, so that the blanket has a rectangular shaped body portion and head and foot portions that are shaped in the form of isosceles trapezoids. Two elongate openings are provided longitudinally along the body portion sandwiching a non-inflatable area. An opening is provided at the head portion of the blanket.
Abstract: An application instantiated on a computing device of a professional receives a selection of a client by a professional to place a call to the client by way of an identifier of the client, and upon receiving the selection of the client, presents to the professional a number of options for an identifier of the professional to be provided with the placed call to the client. The application receives from the professional a selection of one of the options for the identifier of the professional, places the call from the professional to the client, and in doing so provides the selected identifier of the professional with the placed call. The selected and provided identifier of the professional represents a favored location at which the professional or an associate thereof may be reached. The client may ascertain the provided identifier of the professional from the placed call and employ same to place a future call toward the professional or the associate thereof.
