  • Patent number: 5117163
Abstract: A drive system with slip control for railway vehicles with two or more dc drive motors and with common control of the motor armature currents and a logic unit to which are input a measured signal which indicates the armature current intensity of the motor driving the axle having the best adhesion which is usually the trailing axle motor. The measured signal and an amplification signal are multiplied by each other and the product signal issued in a feedback loadsharing system to control the other motors such that the torque of the other motors increased to a maximum allowed level, the trailing axle then rolling very close to ground speed without slipping. This speed is used as a measure of the true speed, which in turn controls the system for loadsharing such that the vehicle can be controlled to maximum tractive effort without causing slipping axles.

  • Patent number: 5117346
Abstract: When dimensioning electrical plants for high voltages for regions exposed to earthquakes, it is necessary to design the current paths between the different apparatuses in such a way that the apparatuses in case of great oscillations are not subjected to abnormally great forces at the points of connection. The problem arises particularly in connection with convertor plants for high-voltage direct current designed with suspended valves, since the oscillating amplitudes there may become considerable. The invention relates to a current path intended for such plants, which is flexible its longitudinal direction and comprises at least two parallel, non-insulated straight conductors which are each connected to a respective end of the current path and electrically interconnectd via roller contact elements, the contact force of which is individually resilient.

  • Patent number: 5117323
Abstract: A converter station for power transmission by means of high voltage direct current has an electrode line protective device for detection of ground faults on the electrode line of the station. An alternating voltage generator injects an alternating signal with a predetermined frequency on the electrode line. The two ends of the electrode line are provided with suppression filters tuned to the measuring frequency. The suppression filter arranged at the remote end of the electrode line is matched, by means of a resistor to the wave impedance of the electrode line. An impedance measuring device senses the impedance of the electrode line at the feeding point in relation to the ground at the measuring frequency. An indicating signal is delivered from the measuring device if the impedance measured deviates from the impedance of the electrode line when in a faultless state.
