  • Patent number: 6315105
Abstract: A conveyor belt scraping apparatus comprises a blade having a blade edge biased against a conveyor belt. The blade is supported at its base and has a web extending from the base to support the blade edge. The web has at least one groove therein substantially parallel to the blade edge to define a tensioning region at the narrowed region of the web, whereby the blade may be biased and tensioned without need for external biasing and tensioning arrangements. Preferably, there are plural grooves in the web. Also preferably, the plural grooves are of different sizes so as to provide a progressive rate to the spring characteristic of the tensioning region of the web. In addition, a groove may have a cushioning material therein so as to provide cushioning of the blade.

  • Patent number: 6269943
Abstract: A conveyor assembly which includes a continuous belt for carrying bulk material such as stone, ore, grain etc. is provided. The conveyor transports the material to a discharge point where the material is discharged from the belt as the belt wraps around a head pulley. The belt is troughed between the area that the material is loaded onto the belt and the head pulley. A plurality of belt supports support the belt between the area where the material is loaded onto the belt and the head pulley. Each belt support includes a central roller for providing generally frictionless rolling support for the central portion of the belt. Each belt support further includes a pair of wing supports for supporting the troughing side of the belt. Each wing support includes a roller adjacent the central roller and a pair of slider bars supporting the marginal edges of the belt.

  • Patent number: 6241078
Abstract: An apparatus and method for training a troughing conveyor belt are provided. The apparatus includes a training roller enclosing a concentric shaft. The training roller is rotatably connected to the shaft. In addition, the training roller is pivotable relative to the shaft about a pivot axis that is transverse the longitudinal axis of the shaft. The training roller engages the conveyor belt so that the conveyor belt rotates the training roller. When the conveyor belt is properly aligned, the force of the belt against the training roller is equally distributed on both sides of the pivot axis of the training roller. When the belt becomes misaligned, the training roller pivots in response to the unequal force of the conveyor belt on opposite sides of the pivot axis. The belt then travels down the pivoted roller, thereby realigning the belt. The shaft is rotatable between two positions. Rotating the shaft also rotates the pivot axis of the training roller.

  • Patent number: 6152290
Abstract: A conveyor belt cleaner is provided having a scraper blade arranged transversely on the lower run of the belt. The scraper blade can have at least one blade or a plurality of blades pivotally connected together. A shaping element having a non-linear configuration adjusts the profile of the scraper blade to match the configuration of the shaping bar. A biasing element connected with the vertical controller biases the scraper blade towards the belt maintaining the scraper blade in contact with the belt. A vertical controller raises and lowers the position of the scraper blade to provide for angular adjustment of the scraper blade relative to the belt.

  • Patent number: 6003657
Abstract: A self-indicating tensioning device for a scraper blade includes a flat spring coupled at one end to a rotatable shaft which supports the blade and coupled at it's other end to an adjusting mechanism. The adjusting mechanism is operable to exert a force on the flat spring which in turn applies a torque to the rotatable shaft for displacing the scraper blade. An indicator rod has one end fixed to the rotatable shaft and the other end is free and located adjacent to a graduated indicator plate.

  • Patent number: 5992614
Abstract: A tensioning device for adjusting the contacting/cleaning force of a scraper blade on the surface of an endless conveyor belt is provided for use on a shaft supporting the scraper blade. The tensioning device allows the shaft to be rotated and locked in a position which is very close to its optimum cleaning position, thereby increasing the efficiency of the scraper assembly. The disclosed tensioning device has three collars with a spring located in between the rotatable collar and adjusting collar. Sequences of axially-directed apertures on the adjusting collar and the stationary collar move into and out of registry with each other as the adjusting collar is rotated. A locking pin is inserted through the aligned holes in the adjusting collar and the stationary collar when the desired amount of torsion is applied to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5988360
Abstract: A load zone area of a conveyor system which includes a continuous belt which carries bulk materials such as stone, ore, grain, etc. to a discharge point where the material leaves the belt as the belt wraps around a head pulley and returns along the under side of the conveyor system to a tail pulley which brings the belt back to a point which it can be loaded again. The load zone area typically has multiple support rollers closely spaced together to minimize the effect of the material impacting the belt which deflects the belt downward, thus creating a gap between the belt and the skirt seal causing leakage.

  • Patent number: 5117970
Abstract: A one-piece replacement sleeve is provided for installation on a conveyor belt roller to prolong the roller's wear life. The cylindrical, split sleeve has a central bore to receive the roller and circumferential grooves in the outer surface to receive fastening circlets to fasten the sleeve to the roller. The sleeve has two radial slits oppositely disposed and extending axially along the entire length of the sleeve to facilitate easy installation and replacement of the sleeve. The slits allow the sleeve to be installed on the roller without the need to remove the roller from its journal mountings. The slits also allow the worn sleeve to be quickly and easily removed by cutting or otherwise removing the fastening circlets. Since the sleeve is formed of one piece of material, the sleeve wears concentrically, reducing vibrations in the conveyor belt assembly. The sleeve provides significant improvements over roller discs and two-piece roller sleeves in the prior art.

  • Patent number: 5016746
Abstract: An apparatus for scraping conveyor belts having a plurality of resilient scraping blades dependent on each other for lateral support and pivotal stability, but capable of individually flexing away from the belt surface. Each blade is positioned in side-by-side abutting relation across the width of the conveyor belt, and sufficiently thick to prevent blade twisting or turning by providing mutual support for the abutting blade or blades. The blades extend into angled engagement with the belt to shave debris from the belt surface. Each blade is mounted on a single trailing arm which is disposed within a tensioning blade support element to allow independent flexing of the blades away from but not towards the belt surface. The support elements are set in a longitudinal array and mounted for rotation on a shaft positioned transversely and in spaced relation to the belt surface.
