Abstract: A process for the preparation of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) modified unsaturated polyester resins is described where the polyester resins have reduced levels of gel particles.
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus are provided for simulating real-world logistical systems in a virtual environment. Sets of objects are provided with various properties and methods for performing various functions, such as pricing, movement, demand, etc. The objects are sheathed in a framework the enables the objects to operate in a semi-autonomous fashion to create a virtual environment. Instances of the objects in the virtual environment are then provided with real-world information, such as commodity or service-type, amount, location, etc as the properties of the object instances. The framework enables the objects to interact, through their attendant methods, within the virtual environment so that the behavior of the overall system emerges. The emergent behavior can then be observed, optimized and corrective action taken, if necessary.

Abstract: A process for monitoring and controlling an aqueous system. At least one performance parameter relating to conditions within the aqueous system is selected. A value of the at least one performance parameter is measured to serve as a baseline value. A capacity of the aqueous system is determined and flow rates of water into and out of the system are measured and monitored. The value of the at least one performance parameter is measured and compared the value to the baseline for the performance parameter. Flow rates of water into and out of the system are factored in. At least one controllable variable within the aqueous system is altered based upon a deviation of the value of the at least one performance parameter from the baseline value.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for retarding the formation of corrosion and/or removing existing corrosion deposits on a metal surface where the metal is in contact with air. The process comprises contacting said metal surface with an oxime in an amount effective to retard the formation of corrosion on the metal surface.
Abstract: This invention relates to phosphate stabilizing compositions comprising (a) polyaspartic acid, and (b) an anionic carboxylic polymer. The compositions effectively stabilize phosphates by inhibiting the formation of calcium phosphate scale. The invention also relates to a process for inhibiting calcium phosphate scale in water treatment systems.
Abstract: The invention relates unsaturated polyester resins for the manufacture of subzero flexible, weather-resistant products. The liquid unsaturated polyester resin comprises a linear unsaturated polyester obtained by reacting 5-30 mol % of one or more ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids (A), 20-45 mol % of one or more other aliphatic or aromatic acids (B) and 40-60 mol % of two or more polyhydric alcohols and 30-60 wt % of one or more reactive monomers. The linear unsaturated polyesters have a cone and plate viscosity (I.C.I.) of 2 ps/125° C.-20 ps/125° C. and a molecular weight Mw of 20,000-100,000. The invention also relates to a process for the manufacture of such unsaturated polyester resins and to the use of them in applications wherein good adhesion to supporting material and flexibility at ambient and especially at low temperatures are needed.

Abstract: A window stop (10) for limiting movement of a sliding window along a predetermined path of window movement is provided. The window stop (10) has a housing (12) having a cavity (20) wherein the housing (12) is adapted to be positioned adjacent the path of window movement. A bolt (14), operatively associated with the cavity (20), is moveable between a first position (BP1) within the housing (12) and thereby out of the path of window movement, and a second position (BP2) extending out of the housing (12) into the path of the window movement whereby the window is able to contact the bolt (14). A securing element (16) exerts a force generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the housing and on the bolt (14) to retain the bolt at the first position (BP1). When a second force is applied to overcome the force exerted by the securing element (16), a biasing element (18) displaces the bolt (14) toward the second position (BP2).
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of release agents commonly in uses in preventing asphalt and other sticky compounds such as rubbers from sticking to the transporting vehicles such as dump truck beds and processing tools, and equipment, and more particularly to a novel biodegradable release agent applied to metal surfaces prior to use for promoting free release of sticky hot-mix asphalt materials from the metal tools and equipment used in road construction applications.
