Abstract: A method and an arrangement for manufacturing a multi-layer composite (13) by laminating a sheet-like element (6) onto a backing (2) in a laminating unit (1), having steps, in this order, of conveying the element (6) in a longitudinal direction, detecting a position of the element (6), correcting the position of the element (6) on the basis of the detected position and on the basis of a reference position (15), and bonding said element (6) onto the backing (2). The detection step comprises the phases of measuring the lateral position, an angle of pivoting, and a longitudinal position of the element (6), and the correction step includes phases of lateral movement (T), pivoting (P), and longitudinal movement (L) of the element (6), apparatus elements perform the steps.

Abstract: Installation for the manufacture of a multi-layer material, particularly for the manufacture of a material using paper webs, comprises a formation station (1) of a first paper web (8) issued from a first paper feeding station, a gluing unit (9), a second paper feeding station producing a second paper web (14) to be laid on the first paper web (8), which have been deformed in the formation station (1), by means of a pressing cylinder (15), a longitudinal cutting station (17), a transverse cutter (22) and a stacking station (29). The formation station (1) produces a structured web (2) comprising alveolar deformations, the structure configuration of said structured web (2), once this one is covered by the second paper web (14), constituting an assembled unit with a mechanical resistance identical in at least two directions.
Abstract: In a machine, for making corrugated paper, of the kind including hollow cylindrical rollers, a process and apparatus is provided for improved heating of the rollers. Liquefied gas is burnt within the hollow interiors of the rollers, and the rollers are heated by radiation from the resultant combustion gases. A combustion tube is fitted into the interior of each roller, and a liquefied gas jet burner is located outside each roller and includes a nozzle directed towards one end of the combustion tube. A radiator tube is provided within the roller in surrounding spaced relation to the combustion tube, forming an annular space therebetween through which auxiliary air is supplied. The radiator tube is heated primarily by radiation from the combustion tube, and transmits its heat by radiation to the roller. Means are provided for cooling each bearing of the rollers.
