  • Patent number: 7621232
Abstract: A bird feeder has a tubular body member having an open bottom end. A base member interfittingly engages the bottom end of the tubular body member The base member is releasably secured to the tubular body member by the engagement of a spring-biased pin that communicates with an aperture through the wall of the tubular body member. Preferably, there are two spring-biased locking pins on opposing sides of the feeder with corresponding lock eye apertures. User manipulatable buttons, which are mechanically linked to the locking pins, are depressed to cause the locking pins to retract to permit releasable attachment of the tubular body member of the feeder thereon enabling easy access to the interior of the feeder.

  • Publication number: 20090255476
Abstract: A nectar feeder for birds has a body member with a base and a lid. The base has an open top end and a side wall. The lid is interfittingly engaged with the top end of the base. A hinge connects the lid to the base to allow movement of the lid relative to the base. The lid has a support extending from an upper surface of the lid. At least one feed port, preferably three, is defined through the lid. The feed port and the support are substantially aligned on the same horizontal plane. A latch is attached to the upper surface of the lid to prevent movement of the lid relative to the base. A moat optionally extends about the periphery of the body member.

  • Publication number: 20080251025
Abstract: The present invention is a nectar feeder for birds. The nectar feeder has a container for storing nectar feed. A base tray is attached to the container and connected in fluid communication with the container. A float is positioned between the container and the base tray. A ball is positioned on the float. The ball regulates the fluid communication between the container and the base tray. In operation, the nectar feed flows through the container and into the base tray until the float rises to a level where the ball prevents fluid from flowing into the base tray.

  • Publication number: 20070283894
Abstract: The present invention is generally directed to a novel and unique bird feeder base that includes a main body having a bottom edge where the bottom edge defines a bore having an inner surface. The inner surface of the bore has at least one female thread member residing and extending less than 360 degrees about such inner surface. Most importantly, the female thread member can be formed without the need for time consuming drilling and tapping. In addition, the bore and female thread member on the inner surface thereof is threadably engagable with a male threaded accessory, such as a mounting post, seed tray or squirrel guard.

  • Patent number: 7231890
Abstract: The present invention includes a method of filling a nectar bird feeder. The bird feeder includes a base with a nectar reservoir and an extension member that downwardly depends from the bottom surface thereof. A hanger is connected to the base and extends upwardly therefrom. A cover, which is releasably attached to the base, has a central aperture to receive the hanger therethrough. The cover is removed from the base and placed on a support surface. The base is then placed on the cover with the extension member being positioned through the aperture so it can be movably positioned so it is level for filling of the reservoir of the base with nectar. After filling, the base is removed from the cover and the cover is reattached to the base.
