Abstract: A mixing system and a method of mixing a relatively low specific gravity substance and a relatively high specific gravity substance are provided. The system includes a tank for containing a mixture, and an adjustable tube having an intake, wherein the adjustable tube is located within the tank and is adjustable for positioning the intake proximate an upper surface of the mixture for drawing in matter having a tendency to float on the surface of the mixture. The system also includes a circulating means for drawing matter out through the adjustable tube and back into the tank via a dispersion tube. The dispersion tube is constructed to allow the mixture to be recirculated throughout the tank or directed to a selected lower portion of the tank.
Abstract: A rapid set microsurfacing system which comprises 36% water, 2% of the quaternized or unquaternized emulsifier, 1.5% acid (HCl), 56.5% asphalt residue, and 4% latex polymer [1.5% water and 2.5% rubber]. The quaternized or unquaternized emulsifier comprising an amidoamine and imidazoline mixture prepared from the combination of a tall oil fatty acid rosin mixture with a rosin content between 8 to 40 percent and a polyamine of either ethylenediamine, diethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, triethylenetetramine, tetraethylene pentamine, or aminoethylethanolamine. The break control agent used can be a hydrophilic, alkylated vinylpyrrolidone polymer (commercially available as Ganex.RTM.
Abstract: An emulsifier and method for its use in mixing grade emulsion systems of a chemical structure containing a tall oil and/or fatty acid portion, a hydrocarbon oxide portion, and a phosphate functionality. Variations in the components and the order of attachment compensate for variations in field conditions. The newly synthesized molecule may then be used to create mixing grade asphaltic emulsions.
