Abstract: The present disclosure describes absorbent articles that include an absorbent core. The absorbent core extends longitudinally along a crotch portion of the absorbent article. The absorbent core includes a channel having one or more pathways extending longitudinally along the absorbent core. The channel is substantially free of absorbent material. In some implementations, the channel includes a single pathway. In other implementations, the channel includes multiple pathways.

Abstract: The present disclosure includes absorbent products having an apertured zone in the surface facing the wearer for enhanced absorbency and BM containment. Some aspects of the products include a chassis including a topsheet defining a plurality of apertures, and a backsheet, an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet, and an acquisition-distribution layer (ADL) disposed between the topsheet and the absorbent core, the ADL including a plurality of external edges that cooperate to define an ADL boundary. In some aspects at least 75% of the plurality of apertures are defined within an apertured region that is disposed vertically above the ADL and is enclosed within the ADL boundary when the chassis is in a flat configuration.

The method entails conveying a base web and integrating a first elastic sub-composite with the base web. Then, a second elastic sub-composite is integrated with the base web, whereby the second elastic sub-composite is spaced apart from the first elasticized sub-composite applied thereon. As a result, an elastic composite having dual elasticized regions is produced. This elastic composite includes a base layer having a pair of side edges and a longitudinal centerline spaced inwardly from the side edges, and a first elastic construction supported by the base layer. The first elastic construction includes a first plurality of spaced apart elastic elements and a first top layer extending over the first elastic construction. The elastic composite also includes a second elastic construction supported by the base layer.

Abstract: Disposable absorbent articles comprising foamed adhesive for securing elastics are disclosed. In one embodiment, a disposable absorbent diaper is disclosed that comprises an adhesive that has been foamed by incorporating gas into a molten hotmelt adhesive. The resulting foamed adhesive displays increased surface area and volume and decreased density while retaining the same or about the same adhesive strength.

Abstract: Absorbent articles and methods for making absorbent articles incorporate unbleached fibers in an absorbing core. Example embodiments provide unbleached fibers which are totally chlorine free. Such unbleached fibers provide features and advantages not present or recognized over prior articles. According to one embodiment, a disposable absorbent article having a front waist region, a back waist region, and a crotch region located between the front and back waist regions, is provided. The disposable absorbent article includes a liquid pervious topsheet and a liquid impervious backsheet. Additionally, the disposable absorbent article includes an absorbent core disposed between at least a portion of the topsheet and bottom sheet. This absorbent core comprises a superabsorbent material and pulp material where at least a portion of the pulp material includes unbleached fibers having constituents which alter the performance properties of the absorbent core.

One or more of the backsheet, topsheet, and absorbent core is constructed of an absorbent composite that includes an absorbent layer of hydratable fine fibers in the form of microfibril obtained from cellulose or a derivative thereof and super absorbent polymer (SAP) particles bonded together by the hydratable fibers, and a nonwoven substrate supporting the absorbent layer such as SMS. The absorbent layer is coated over the surface of the nonwoven substrate. The core may include one uniform layer of the absorbent composite or a composite having one layer of the nonwoven substrate and a plurality of segmented absorbent layers applied thereon. In the latter design, the absorbent layers are spaced apart from one another to expose surface sections of the substrate. These non-coated surface sections provide wicking zones which allow room for the absorbent layers to expand and prevent gel blocking.
