  • Patent number: 5249036
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling a water-ink equilibrium on a moving offset plate 2 in an offset copying machine wherein the offset plate is fixed to a rotating cylinder 1. The method includes the step of illuminating a predetermined area 35 of the moving offset plate 2, the density of which is known, with a coherent light source 30 under normal incidence. A portion of the light reflected around an axis perpendicular to the plane of the illuminated area 35 is collected in the focal plane of a convergent optical system 32. The intensity of the collected light is measured at at least one location in the focal plane of the convergent optical system.

  • Patent number: 5217082
Abstract: A coupling device comprises a non-magnetic female part (1) comprising an aperture ending in a coupling surface of the part and a magnet (7) accommodated in a recess in an offset position with respect to the coupling aperture; and a male part (3) comprising a portion with a circular section (11) made of a ferromagnetic material, the diameter of which is higher than the smallest size of the aperture, and intended to be drawn by the magnet against the coupling surface while being centered in the aperture. This device can be used in an apparatus for suspending any of several objects to a support.

  • Patent number: 5087823
Abstract: A device for determining the characteristics of particles in suspension in a liquid, comprising a sampling device (2) for injecting samples of particles; a fractionator (3) for sorting those particles as a function of their length; an optical measurement cell (4) which receives the output of the fractionator, and a programmable controller (6) for calculating the values of the intensities and combinations of those values in the various directions of the optical radiation. The optical measurement cell includes a laser for transmitting polarized, coherent light through the particles in suspension and for collecting the light diffracted in various directions.
