Abstract: A method for obtaining a plant having a modified amount of ASR protein, providing it with enhanced resistance to water stress compared to a non-transformed plant, comprises: transforming at least a plant cell with a vector, containing an expression cassette including a nucleotide sequence coding for an ASR protein or inhibiting the expression of an ASR protein; culturing the resulting transformed cell so as to generate a plant containing in its genome the expression cassette.
