  • Patent number: 5122149
Abstract: The invention relates to a surgical instrument for ligation of internal tissues, such as hemorrhoids, in a cavity of the body by means of an elastic cord. The instrument comprises an inner front-cylinder (1) with the elastic cord (2) strained around its front end and a displaceable outer discharge-cylinder (3) arranged on the front-cylinder (1). At displacement the elastic cord (2) is pushed beyond the front-cylinder (1) and ligates the stem of a tissue (12) inserted in the front-cylinder (1). One of the two cylinders (1;3) is connected to a profiled tube (4) and the other cylinder (3;1) is connected to one end of a relatively stiff strip (5), which constitutes the actuating means (6) for the relative displacement of the cylinders. The strip is preferably formed into an actuating loop and the displacement is attained by pressing the actuating loop (6) towards the tube (4).

  • Patent number: 5047013
Abstract: The invention relates to a probe for treating varicose veins, comprising a flexible plastic tube with a tip portion which can be guided through varicose veins at its front end, the tube being at least as long as the veins to be treated. To enable a sclerosing agent to be injected at desired points along the varicose vein, the invention proposes that the probe should have at least one lateral opening in the region of the tip portion, and that the inner cavity of the tube should form a flow connection from a joining piece at the rear end of the tube to the lateral opening, for injection of sclerosing agent.

  • Patent number: 4983164
Abstract: The invention relates to an automatic two-chamber injector for mixing and injecting a medical solution. The injector comprises a barrel (11) having a first end with a receiving portion (15) for an injection needle (17), said portion being sealed prior to use, and a second end with a displaceable plunger (27). The barrel (11) comprises two chambers (29, 30) separated by a migrationproof membrane (28), said membrane (28) being adapted to rupture when the plunger (27) is displaced towards the first end of the barrel (11).The invention also related to a method for mixing and injecting a solution by means of an automatic two-chamber injector and to a cartridge for a two-chamber injector.

  • Patent number: 4945950
Abstract: A continuous output device for liquid or gaseous fluids comprising a rail having channels each opening to a first surface of the rail through a slit sealed by a sealing strip, the fluid being supplied to the channels of the rail, and a coupling having an opening member for locally pushing aside the sealing strip for passing, at activation of the coupling, the fluid to said coupling beyond the sealing strip for further distribution to a using place. The sealing strip comprises a spiral spring covered with a sealing body for sealing against the slit. The revolutions of the spiral spring are inclined so that the torsional properties of the spring are used for pushing aside the sealing strip.

  • Patent number: 4906237
Abstract: A method of forming an improved hydrophilic coating by applying on a non-reactive hydrophilic polymer surface layer an osmolality-increasing compound to produce a more stable hydrophilic surface and to produce a more slippery surface in wet condition. The polymer surface layer is treated with a solution having above 2% (weight/volume) of an osmolality increasing compound and then the solvent of the solution is evaporated. Osmolality increasing compounds are nontoxic organic or unorganic salts other than trihalogenids, mono- or di- saccharides or sugar alcohols. Preferred compounds are glucose, sorbitol, sodium chloride, sodium citrate, sodium bensoate, calcium chloride, potassium chloride, potassium iodide, potassium nitrate. The solution of the osmolality increasing compound contains preferably a polymer. Medical articles treated with the solution of osmolality increasing compounds according to the method above also relate to the invention.

  • Patent number: 4906191
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a means for preparation of a dental bridge for a dental prosthesis. The dental bridge is modelled by casting in a mould prepared from a casting model. The casting model is built up in the mouth of the patient by modules (3,6) which are joined together into a unit. A module consists of a metal socket (3) on which a cap (6) with a through hole is mounted. The modules are connected to each other preferably by gluing.

  • Patent number: 4673584
Abstract: A process for providing a surface of glass, silicon, aluminum or silicone rubber of an article useful within medicine with a bicompatible surface layer. Said surface is reacted (after oxidation when required) with a silane containing at least one epoxy group and the surface thus treated is then reacted with a polysaccharide containing at least one hydroxyl group. The invention also relates to an article exhibiting a biocompatible surface layer of a polysaccharide containing at least one hydroxyl group, which polysaccharide is covalently bound to a surface of glass, silicon, aluminum or silicone rubber of the article by means of a silane.

  • Patent number: 4629159
Abstract: Valve-provided tube connecting device to connection with a liquid line intended to be connected to a patient, preferably for draining of body liquids. Said connection device consists of a drip chamber house, a connecting house containing a spring loaded valve body, which connecting house is designed to connection with a connector. The valve body consists of a conical upper sealing part, a guide part and a solid, conical lower sealing part. The device attained a closed system, which decreases the risk of bacteria infections and spillage.
