Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide improved image resizing techniques including seam craving and seam lining that consider image content in addition to geometric constraints. In one aspect of the disclosure, the energy for each of the pixels of an image is determined in accordance with an energy function. A line energy is determined for each straight line of the image, and the line energy corresponds to a sum of the energy of the pixels in each straight line. A plurality of starting points are identified for a plurality of seams corresponding to the straight lines having the lowest line energy. Further, the paths for each of the seams are determined. The image may be resized by removing the seams from the image.

Abstract: Techniques for transferring device-related content between mobile devices in low coverage areas are provided. In emergency situations, various information (e.g., current location coordinates, time-stamp, location history, sensor measurements and other device-related or network-related information) may be useful to emergency services. However, this information may be difficult to provide to an external server in areas of low or no cellular coverage. Thus, provided techniques enable mobile devices to communicate with each other in low coverage areas to build up a history of information that may be useful in an emergency situation.

  • Publication number: 20130315110
Abstract: In an embodiment, an originating device sends a request, to a server, to initiate a full-duplex session with a target device. Responsive to the full-duplex request, a half-duplex session is set-up from the originating device to the target device before the full-duplex session is set-up. The target device indicates its acceptance of the half-duplex session, receives half-duplex media from the originating device and selectively indicates its acceptance of the full-duplex session. In another embodiment, during a session currently supported either by half-duplex or full-duplex, the server arbitrating the session receives a request from one of the session participants to transition the session to another duplex-type. The server then selectively transitions the duplex-type of the session.

Abstract: In wireless communication systems, received signal estimation and detection is computationally intensive. During such processing, received signal matrices may be conditioned prior to inversion to improve stability. In particular, code domain conditioning, followed by time domain conditioning prior to inversion results in improved receiver performance. Such code and time domain conditioning may be particularly suited to a Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA) system where code values are not averaged out of a received signal matrix.

  • Publication number: 20120289227
Abstract: In an embodiment, a user equipment (UE) detects that a user has made a pre-defined gesture that is associated with setting up a group communication session (GCS) with a communication group. The UE transmits a call request message to an application server to request set-up of the GCS. In another embodiment, the UE receives a user input requesting the UE to monitor for gestures by a user of the UE during the GCS. The UE then monitors one or more sensors during the GCS to detect whether the user of the UE has made a pre-defined gesture. In another embodiment, during the GCS, the UE detects that the user has made a pre-defined gesture, maps the detected gesture to a gesture-based command associated with transitioning the UE's floor-holder status and then transmits a request to facilitate the floor-holder status transition to the application server in accordance with the gesture-based command.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a dual antenna distributed radio frequency front end (RFFE). RFFE topologies described herein may provide lower insertion loss (IL), reduced emission mask, decreased power consumption, and/or lower noise figure (NF) compared to conventional RFFE topologies. One example apparatus for wireless communications generally includes first and second power amplifiers (PAs) for amplifying signals for transmission, a transmit antenna for transmitting the amplified signals, a receive antenna for receiving other signals to be processed in a receive path, and a first transmit filter configured to filter the amplified signals from the first PA before amplification by the second PA. For certain aspects, a divided inter-stage filter providing overlapping frequency bands may be utilized. For certain aspects, the RFFE may support frequency-division duplexing (FDD)/TDD (time-division duplexing) coexistence, including support for FDD/TDD MIMO (multiple input multiple output).

Abstract: In a first method, a first apparatus determines a channel gain to a second apparatus with which the first apparatus is communicating. The first apparatus determines interferer backoff information that ensures an interference level at the first apparatus such that a signal received from the second apparatus can be decoded reliably. The interferer backoff information is determined based on the channel gain. The first apparatus transmits information based on the interferer backoff information in a message to the second apparatus. In a second method, a first apparatus in communication with a second apparatus determines a channel gain to a third apparatus with which the first apparatus can potentially interfere. The first apparatus receives a message from the third apparatus. The message includes interferer backoff information. The first apparatus determines a power for transmitting a signal to the second apparatus based on the interferer backoff information and the channel gain.
