Abstract: A network administration system includes an Internet-based repair (eRepair) subsystem that is configured to accept customer trouble tickets related to a network and to provide customer trouble ticket status information to customers. The administration system also includes a Work Force and Administration-Control (WFA/C) subsystem that is configured to manage repair services that are performed on the network in response to the customer trouble tickets. A repair status update system, method and/or computer program product is configured to automatically push a status change message from the WFA/C subsystem to the eRepair subsystem upon occurrence of a change in a status of a customer trouble ticket in the WFA/C subsystem as a result of repair services that are performed on the network. The customer trouble ticket status information is updated in response to receipt of the status change message.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for storing messages using multiple communication modalities, in which a first communication is received from a first communication system. One embodiment of a method includes receiving a message in a first protocol and converting the message from the first protocol to the second protocol. Some embodiments include storing the converted message in a temporary mailbox created for storing messages of the second protocol, sending the converted message to a storage component associated with the second protocol, and destroying the temporary mailbox.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for locating and retrieving stored computer files that are related to an incoming telephone call directed to a computer user. A called party receives a telephone call while the called party is operating her computer. A computer telephony interface receives caller identification information on the calling party and uses that information to launch a software synchronization program for locating files stored on the called party's computer that are related to the calling party. A dialog box is displayed on the screen of the called party's computer that provides the caller identification on the calling party and provides an icon for displaying a list of stored files related to the incoming caller. The list of files may be automatically presented to the called party, or the called party may retrieve the list of stored files by selection of the icon presented in the dialog box.

Abstract: A portable diagnostic device. The portable diagnostic device includes a housing, a processor located within the housing, an input device located on the housing and coupled to the processor, and a display screen located on the housing and coupled to the processor. The processor includes a microbrowser module configured for communicating with an external source of information and a diagnostic module configured for analyzing information received from the external source of information.

Abstract: A cellular system for handling outgoing calls from a mobile station (1) including a network element (8) being capable of recognizing voiced commands and names, and has in memory a database of telephone numbers corresponding to an array of names; The mobile station (1) connects to the network element (8) and the mobile station user communicates the desired outgoing call function to the network element (8) by voice. This desired outgoing call function may be communicated while the mobile station (1) is engaged in using supplementary services provided by the network element (8), at any operation point in those services. The network element (8) evaluate the voice communication, retrieves any corresponding information, including telephone numbers, and communicates the necessary information need by the mobile station (1) to carry out the desired function to the mobile station (1).

Abstract: A management system using Global Positioning System receivers for tracking remote units from a central office and quickly and conveniently determining if those remote units have varied from a set of predetermined parameters of operation. The system also includes provisions that allows information to be sent from the remote units to the central office and vice versa. The system also has safety features that promote the rapid dispatch of law enforcement personnel when requests for emergency assistance have been made from the remote units.

Abstract: A process integrated messaging system is provided. The system typically includes messaging interface logic, parsing logic, analyzing logic, and database interface logic. The messaging interface logic receives a first message via a messaging client from an originating party regarding a record. The parsing logic parses the first message into its component parts. The analyzing logic examines the component parts of the message and provides a decision signal in response to the contents of the component parts of the message. The database interface logic receives the decision signal, interfaces to a database, and instructs the database to update the record in accordance with the decision signal. The database controls a number of records, each of the records tracking a process and steps associated with the process. Other systems and methods are also provided.

Abstract: A method for traffic engineering of connectionless virtual private network (VPN) services that includes receiving physical connectivity data for a connectionless VPN. The data includes service nodes and links between the service nodes. One or more of the service nodes are also edge nodes. Logical connectivity data for the edge nodes is received. A restricted topology is created in response to the physical connectivity data and to the logical connectivity data. The restricted topology includes a single path between each pair of the edge nodes and each path includes a plurality of the service nodes and one or more of the links. A bandwidth requirement for each link in the restricted topology is calculated. The bandwidth requirement is reserved on each link in the restricted topology. The method further comprises directing routing software to force a packet received from an edge node through one of the paths in the restricted topology.

Abstract: A method for wiring an architectural structure for telephone service includes providing a cable. The cable includes a sheath and first and second pairs of conductor members. The sheath includes first and second longitudinally extending sheath passages and a partition wall extending therebetween. Each of the conductor members is twisted about the other conductor member of its pair. Each of the conductor members includes a conductor and an insulation cover. The first pair of conductor members is disposed in the first sheath passage and the second pair of conductor members is disposed in the second sheath passage such that the sheath surrounds the first and second pairs of conductor members and the first pair of conductor members is separated from the second pair of conductor members by the partition wall.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for providing a telecommunications services menu accessible via a voice interactive system, such as a voice services node. A subscriber accesses a voice communications menu by accessing a voice services node. The voice services node queries a customer profile database to obtain a list of telecommunications services available to the subscriber. At the voice services node, a voice prompt is constructed for providing the subscriber a voice menu of the available services. After the subscriber receives the voice prompt of menu items, the subscriber may select a service from the provided menu.

Abstract: A method for facilitating the telecommunication equipment ordering process including creating a telecommunication equipment order record. The telecommunication equipment order record includes a telecommunication equipment order number, a project number, equipment data, accounting data, schedule data, supplier data and shipping data. The creating includes populating the order record in response to input from a creator. The accounting data is transmitted to an accounting system for verification of the accounting data. A verification status is received from the accounting system. The verification status is positive if the accounting data is located in the accounting system and the verification status is negative if the accounting data is not located in the accounting system. The order record is released into an order database accessible by users in response to the verification status being positive and to a request from the creator.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for registering and operating a wireless telephone in a roaming service area in which the wireless telephone is not registered for roaming services. When a wireless telephone is operated in a such a roaming service area, the roaming service provider whose services the wireless telephone must utilize in order to operate in the roaming service area informs the user of the wireless telephone through a recorded or live message that the wireless telephone may be used in the roaming service area if the user of the wireless telephone purchases and uses a prepaid utilization account offered by the roaming service provider. If the user purchases a prepaid card and loads a balance into a prepaid utilization account, a prepaid services system of the roaming service provider establishes a pseudo-telephone number for use by the wireless telephone in the roaming service area.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing distributed notification of an emergency event are disclosed. A system according to the invention can include a remote device that is communicatively coupled to a base station. The remote device can include an activation device, a GPS signal receiver, a remote device controller, and a location signal transmitter. The GPS signal receiver is adapted to receive global positioning signals from each of a plurality of global positioning satellites. The transmitter is adapted to transmit location signals to the base station. The base station can include a contact profile data store, a location signal receiver, a base station controller, and a notification signal transmitter. The location signal receiver is adapted to receive location signals from the remote device. The notification signal transmitter is adapted to transmit notification signals to each of a plurality of contacts, which can include an emergency service.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for establishing a two-way communication feedback path between a receiver and a transmitter. The receiver includes an input portion, a processor, a user interface, a control module, and a network interface. The input portion is configured to receive a signal transmitted by a transmitter and to convert the signal to an audio signal. The user interface is configured to receive an input command and to convey the input command to the processor. The processor executes a control module for processing the input command and generating a query in accordance with the input command. The network interface is configured for facilitating communication between the receiver and the transmitter via the network and the query is transmitted from the receiver to the transmitter via the network.

Abstract: A system including a digital radio broadcast station, a receiver, and a network. The digital radio broadcast station includes a transmitter and a server. The receiver is in communication with the digital radio broadcast transmitter and also includes a user interface for receiving user input commands comprising a request for information from the digital radio broadcast station. The receiver is configured to establish a two-way communication path between the receiver and the digital radio broadcast transmitter. The network is in communication with the server and the receiver for exchanging information therebetween. The request for information is provided to the server via the network and the server is configured to receive the request and transmit a response message to the receiver in accordance with the request.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for audibly annunciating at a device information transmitted over a telephone network. The information is transmitted in the form of a modulated signal to the device wherein the modulated signal is representative of the information. The apparatus includes a receiver for capturing a ring signal and a modulated signal representative of information transmitted over a telephone network during an interval between the ring signal and a subsequent ring signal; a converter in communication with the receiver for converting the modulated signal into a stream of audible signals; and a speaker in communication with the converter for producing audible sounds corresponding to the stream of audible signals representative of the information received over the telephone network.

Abstract: A system and method for receiving email instructions allowing users to remotely manage email messages on a specially adapted email server. The adapted email server comprises a registration module and database and other programming logic for verifying the user and determining the user's instructions for managing the email on the server. The user may advantageously manage email messages using any standard email client without the need to actually log in to the server system.

Abstract: A system and method that records a message and then delivers the message to one or more recipients. The message may be delivered to the recipients at some determined later time. Each recipient may be able to receive the message at different times depending on data that is input with respect to each recipient. Also described are repeat call function that repeats a call until a live recipient answers the call, and repeat message function that repeats a recorded message to a recipient a determined number of times.

Abstract: Briefly described, one embodiment of a system for automatic electronic message retrieval, among others, includes a messaging client for receiving electronic messages and for authorizing automatic message retrieval, and an automatic messaging retrieval system configured to automatically check for electronic messages.
