Abstract: In a cloud app market, a cloud infrastructure customer can purchase apps for performing services such as rootkit detection and network security for a customer virtual machine run by the cloud infrastructure customer. A cloud infrastructure provider executes a provider virtual machine monitor or hypervisor on cloud infrastructure. The cloud app is provided with a customer virtual machine monitor nested on the provider virtual machine monitor. The customer virtual machine, together with a nested management domain of the customer, execute on the customer virtual machine monitor.

Abstract: Multiple video picture frames are combined into a spatial multiplex video picture frame that may be fully decoded and displayed. The video display of the spatial multiplex video picture frame is a composite combination of all of the video picture frames that have been combined, and may have an appearance such as a mosaic. Multiplexing the video picture frames involves removing picture headers, creating a picture header for the spatial multiplex video picture frame, and altering the headers of individual components of each video picture frame. The new header for the spatial multiplex video picture frame indicates a slice format frame, and headers of the individual components are altered to provide a slice format based picture position for each video picture frame. The headers of the individual components are altered to become slice based, such as in accordance with the ITU-T H.263 video standard, prior to establishing the slice based picture position if the frames are not already of the slice format.

Abstract: Sensitive content is securely shared. A request is received from a first communication device to share sensitive content. The first communication device is associated with an account for a communication service provided by a network provider. A message including a link to the sensitive content is sent to a second communication device associated with a phone number. That message is addressed to the second communication device. An authentication message is received, indicating that the second communication device is associated with the phone number. Responsive to receipt of the authentication message, the sensitive content is made accessible via the second communication device without requiring that the second communication device be associated with an account for the communication service provided by the network provider.

Abstract: Explicit congestion notification (ECN) bits that have traditionally been utilized in end to end congestion mitigation can be redefined to identify and compare congested and uncongested wireless accesses. Accordingly, mobile devices or other user equipment can leverage ECN data in order to make intelligent network selection, e.g., selecting a network with no congestion over one in a congested state. Accordingly, an application executing at the mobile device can send or receive data via the selected network that is selected based on ECN data.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for extending the functionality of a mobile device by including a cover for the mobile device with a substantial portion of the exterior overlaid with a touch-sensitive surface. Logic stored on the cover senses a user's touch on the touch-sensitive surface and transmits the touch input to the coupled mobile device. Logic stored on the coupled mobile device may receive and interpret the touch input as a function or command of an operating system, or a function or command of a program within the operating system of the mobile device.

Abstract: A method, a non-transitory computer-readable medium and an apparatus for receiving a data packet that is transmitted from a first sensor node are disclosed. For example, the method performs a channel scan of a particular burst of channel scans. When the preamble packet is detected, the method determines whether the preamble packet is addressed to the second sensor node. When the preamble packet is addressed to the second sensor node, the method sends an acknowledgement packet to the first sensor node. The method then receives the data packet that is transmitted from the first sensor node. The method then sleeps for a duration of time, when there is no packet transmission that is ongoing that is destined to the second sensor node.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a server having a controller to monitor for a tutorial request from a set top box coupled to a monitor display where the tutorial request is associated with use of the set top box, determine a tutorial type based on the tutorial request, and establish real time communication using a first webcam coupled to the set top box and a second webcam coupled to a communication device at a support center when the tutorial type is a video conference. Abstract: The performance of an echo canceller is assessed using a) a test signal launched from originating test equipment and b) a simulated echo of the test signal launched from terminating test equipment. The launch of the simulated echo signal is timed in such a way that it arrives at the tandem echo canceller(s) at a particular point in time relative to the arrival of the test signal, at the tandem echo canceller(s), when the tandem echo canceller(s) is (are) not able to cancel the simulated echo signal. The latter thus arrives uncanceled at the target echo canceller. The launch of the simulated echo signal is further timed in such a way that it arrives at the target echo canceller at a point in time relative to the arrival of the test signal, at the target echo canceller, when the target echo canceller is able to cancel the simulated echo signal.

Abstract: Devices and methods are disclosed which relate to managing multiple public user identifiers (PUIDs) in a database by setting customizable access rules and requiring authorization from applications for access. These PUIDs can be virtually any electronic identifier such as a telephone number, email address, FACEBOOK name, etc. The PUID database is on the memory of a mobile communication device. Applications on the mobile communication device or on the network request access to the PUID database. Access logic on the mobile communication device checks another database of PUID Access Policies and Preferences (PAPP) for authorization. The PAPP database may allow the application immediate access, deny access, or query the user for allowance. The PUID database and PAPP database are on a server on a network.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining if a commercial contains one of metadata, close captioning information, recognizable speech in an audio component of the commercial, or a combination thereof. In response to determining that the commercial does not contain metadata, but does contain close captioning information, an advertised show is identified based on the close captioning information. Likewise, in response to determining that the commercial contains neither metadata, nor close captioning information, but does contain recognizable speech in an audio component of the commercial, the advertised show is identified based on the recognizable speech. Abstract: A method of aiding creation of a service offer associated with a Service Delivery Framework (SDF) includes providing a plurality of reusable Application Objects (AOs) that may be associated with an Interactive Development Environment (IDE). The AOs are prototype customer facing service offers that include standardized functions supporting ordering, billing, management and monitoring. The AOs also include standardized event formats and configurable attributes that affect the behavior and pricing of service offers derived from the AOs. A Services Marketplace facilitates reuse of AOs and supports relationships between customers, application creators, service providers and OSS/BSS providers. A computer-readable medium includes instructions that when executed by a computing device aids in creation of a service offer associated with a SDF by providing a plurality of reusable Application Objects (AOs) in the context of a services marketplace.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining a need to provide a service to a first communication device of a plurality of communication devices, detecting a movement of a second communication device of the plurality of communication devices in a direction that will place the second communication device in a communication range of the first communication device, and transmitting a message to the second communication device to provide the service to the first communication device when the second communication device comes into the communication range of the first communication device. Abstract: Concepts and technologies are described herein for location-based WI-FI radio activation and deactivation for mobile devices. According to one aspect disclosed herein, a WI-FI connection management system can detect that a mobile device is within a coverage area provided by a WI-FI network. The WI-FI connection management system can also generate a trigger to instruct the mobile device to activate a WI-FI radio of the mobile device and connect to the WI-FI network. The WI-FI connection management system can also send the trigger to the mobile device.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, sampling a variable effect distribution of viewing preference data to determine a first set of effects comprising a plurality of first distortion type effects associated with a first distortion type of a first image and to determine a second set of effects comprising a plurality of second distortion type effects associated with the second distortion type of a second image, calculating a preference estimate from a logistic regression model of the viewing preference data according to the first set of effects and the second set of effects, wherein the preference estimate comprises a probability that the first image is preferred over the second image, and selecting one of the first distortion type or the second distortion type according to the preference estimate. Abstract: An architecture that can redirect communications upon detection of a handover failure in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network is described. The architecture can obtain information indicative of a handover failure that is available in a first portion of the LTE network (e.g., a serving gateway) that has no control over the communication path. The architecture can utilize the information to instruct a second portion of the LTE network (e.g., a mobility management entity), one that can control the communication path but conventionally has no access to the handover information, to reroute the communication path to avoid unresponsive or failing network entities.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for scheduling full-duplex communications between half-duplex mobile devices and a full-duplex capable access point. The system receives, within a time window, tones from a plurality of mobile devices, the tones indicating that each device in the plurality of devices are performing one of uploading data and downloading data. The system pairs the plurality of devices into pairs of an uploading device and a downloading device, where the pairing is based on an interference each device in the plurality of devices causes with remaining devices in the plurality of devices, to yield a list of paired devices. Upon communicating the list of paired devices to the plurality of devices, one device of each pair transmits data to the base station in a frequency channel while the other device receives data from the base station in the same frequency.

The method includes receiving a request from a called party to mark a telephone call currently in session as a priority telephone call. The telephone call is initiated by a calling party and received by the called party. It is determined if the called party has authorization to mark the telephone call as a priority telephone call. The telephone call is marked as a priority telephone call if it is determined that the called party has authorization to mark the telephone call as a priority telephone call.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to motion adaptive user equipment (UE) in a wireless communications network environment adapted for selecting one or more subsets of accessible user interface (UI) functions based, at least in part, on the determined motion of a UE. By selectively employing the one or more subsets of UI functions, a UE can dynamically adapt to the motion of the UE and limit distracting interactions with the UE creating a safer or more compliant wireless environment. Further disclosed are features related to override of UI limitations, auxiliary location sensing aspects, motion rule updating features, and voluntary and involuntary user preference aspects.

Abstract: A portable radiotelephone can be shifted between a first condition wherein the radiotelephone does not receive or transmit voice communications by radiotelephone transmissions over radiotelephone channels and a second condition wherein the radiotelephone receives and transmits voice communications by radiotelephone transmissions over radiotelephone channels. The radiotelephone automatically calls a central voice-activated phone dialing system remote from the portable radiotelephone in response to producing the second condition in the radiotelephone. The radiotelephone includes a switch for producing the first and second conditions.
