  • Publication number: 20090238147
Abstract: A computer implemented method includes determining, at a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) base station, that a mobile device capable of communicating via a Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) and via the WLAN is within a range of the WLAN base station. The computer implemented method includes sending a registration message including an Internet Protocol (IP) address from the WLAN base station to the mobile phone device. The mobile device sends a call forwarding message from the mobile phone device to a network element of the WWAN after receiving the registration message. The call forwarding message redirects a call destined for the mobile phone device to the WLAN base station for transmission to the mobile phone device. The computer implemented method includes receiving the redirected call from the WWAN.

  • Patent number: 7593513
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a network based voice mail system that includes advantages of traditional answering machines. When a call comes in that is not answered, a Remote Answering Device may pick up after a preselected number of rings and play a prerecorded greeting that is stored locally and then prompt the caller to wait for the beep. The Remote Answering Device may use three-way calling service to conference the user's voice mail number into the call. When a conference call is established it plays the beep and then plays the message which is being recording live on the speaker. If a call is received by the network based voice mail system that did not first pass through the Remote Answering Device, the network based voice mail system may synchronize the Remote Answering Device with the network based voice mail system.
