  • Patent number: 8503633
Abstract: A system and method to provide content and call attributes for a destination phone number using a click-to-dial connection includes accepting a query, retrieving links to a document, and searching through cached data using the query to identify relevant or destination number information. If no match is found, the method continues with accessing the document identified by the link for identifying relevant number information and creating a click-to-dial icon to link to the relevant numbers included in the relevant phone number information identified by the query. Next, a popup box for content relevant to the click-to-dial icon and a click feature on the popup box are created to retrieve call destination attributes for viewing by a user. Further, computer instructions create at least one communication connection between two communication devices after viewing call destination attributes.

  • Patent number: 8504096
Abstract: An intelligent abbreviated dialing feature can use a portion of a phone number as a shortcut to dialing. Any portion of a phone number can be input into a communications device such as by pressing buttons on the keypad or speaking into a microphone. A processor in the communications device or on a network accessible by the communications device can generate the phone number register from frequently dialed numbers. The processor can compare the input into the communications device against the phone number register. For each digit of the phone number that is input into the communications device, the processor can search the phone numbers and provide search results with the corresponding numbers. A phone number can be selected from the search results and dialed.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable storage device for sending a spoken message as a text message. The method includes initiating a connection with a first subscriber, receiving from the first subscriber a spoken message and spoken disambiguating information associated with at least one recipient address. The method further includes converting the spoken message to text via an audible text center subsystem (ATCS), and delivering the text to the recipient address. The method can also include verifying a subscription status of the first subscriber, or delivering the text to the recipient address based on retrieved preferences of the first subscriber. The preferences can be retrieved from a consolidated network repository or embedded within the spoken message. Text and the spoken message can be delivered to the same or different recipient addresses. The method can include updating recipient addresses based on a received oral command from the first subscriber.

  • Publication number: 20130198315
Abstract: A cache device is disposed on a connection path between a user computer executing a software application and a network. The application exchanges data with a further computer via the network. The cache device includes a cache memory and a processor. The cache device is configured to measure, by the processor, a first latency between the user computer and the further computer. The cache device is further configured to determine an acceptable latency range based on the latency and a requirement of the software application. The cache device is further configured to measure a second latency between the user computer and the further computer. The cache device is further configured to store, in the cache memory, a set of data transmitted from the user computer to the further computer, if the second latency is not within the acceptable latency range.

  • Publication number: 20130195257
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for providing Programmable Caller ID Screening services. One method monitors a telephone call for a call screening request for commercial, residential, and other identifiers of incoming calls. An action is taken in response to the call screening request. The action could be playing an announcement, terminating the connection, forwarding to voice mail, storing the ICLID information in a database, adding the ICLID information to a Do Not Call list, updating a subscriber's profile with the ICLID information, and/or storing the ICLID information in a subscriber's blocked communications list. The call screening request may comprise a Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency, a softkey entry, and/or a data message. Subsequent incoming calls from the calling telephone number are characterized as undesirable and are screened from alerting or otherwise establishing a communications connection to the called telephone number.

Abstract: Techniques to perform simultaneous communications over licensed and unlicensed spectrum are disclosed. A bandwidth monitor measures the amount of bandwidth available from a first communications connection over licensed spectrum, and the amount of bandwidth available from a second communications connection over unlicensed spectrum. Upon receiving a bandwidth request, an optimizer generates a recommendation on how to allocate bandwidth from the first and second communications connections. A load balancer then executes the allocation over the first and second communications requests based at least on the generated recommendation. Various optimization embodiments are further disclosed. Variations on bandwidth monitoring, including polling and notifications are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8498443
Abstract: The present invention provides a watermark information embedding device, a watermark information processing system, a watermark information embedding method and program that can provide a two-dimensional code enabling detection of copying. The watermark information embedding device comprises a first wavelet transform unit (12), a watermark information embedding unit (14) and an inverse wavelet transform unit (150). The first wavelet transform unit (12) performs a discrete wavelet transform on an original image of a two-dimensional code and decomposes this into various frequency components, namely an LL component, an LH component, an HL component and an HH component. The watermark information embedding unit (14) embeds the watermark information in the HH component as a high-frequency component in an oblique direction.

  • Patent number: 8498621
Abstract: A server device of a communication system provides a web interface to allow a user to modify user interface settings and contact information. The server device communicates the modified settings and contact information to the mobile communication device via a wireless communication network. Accordingly, the user can conveniently configure user interface settings, such as ring tones, alarm settings, or the like, via a web interface, rather than through a cumbersome interface at the mobile communication device. In addition, the user interface settings are communicated to the mobile communication device via the same wireless communication network that carries voice data. Thus, the user interface of the mobile communication device, as well as the stored contact information, can be updated without requiring the user to connect the device to a computer.
