  • Patent number: 10349454
Abstract: Methods, computer-readable media, and devices for instantiating a service provider application on a customer premises-based device are disclosed. For example, a processing system of a telecommunication service provider network having at least one processor may establish a first tunnel between the processing system and a virtual machine monitor of a customer premises-based device and send a first instruction to the virtual machine monitor via the first tunnel to instantiate a first service provider application on the customer premises-based device. The processing system may further establish a second tunnel between the processing system and the first service provider application and send a second instruction to the first service provider application via the second tunnel to configure the first service provider application to operate in a service function chain.

  • Patent number: 10348391
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a repeater device having a first coupler to extract downstream channel signals from first guided electromagnetic waves bound to a transmission medium of a guided wave communication system. An amplifier amplifies the downstream channel signals to generate amplified downstream channel signals. A channel selection filter selects one or more of the amplified downstream channel signals to wirelessly transmit to the at least one client device via an antenna. A second coupler guides the amplified downstream channel signals to the transmission medium of the guided wave communication system to propagate as second guided electromagnetic waves. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10348525
Abstract: A system facilitating dynamic layer mapping with multiple downlink control channels wireless communication system is provided herein. In one example, a method, comprises: determining, by a BS device, for a selected mobile device, a type of downlink control channel configuration to transmit to a mobile device; and in response to determining to transmit multiple downlink control channels as the type of downlink control channel configuration, identifying a layer to couple to the downlink control channel configuration. Determining the type of downlink control channel configuration to transmit can comprise: determining to transmit multiple downlink control channels if a rank is higher than a defined value; and determining to transmit a single control channel in lieu of transmitting the multiple control channels if a rank is less than or equal to the defined value. The method can also include scheduling the layer for transmission to the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 10349418
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a wireless communication node that receives instructions in a control channel directing it to utilize a spectral segment at a first carrier frequency to communicate with a mobile communication device. Responsive to the instructions, the wireless communication node receives a modulated signal in the spectral segment at a second carrier frequency from the base station, the modulated signal including communications data provided by the base station. The wireless communication node down-shifts the modulated signal at the second carrier frequency to the first carrier frequency, and wirelessly transmits the modulated signal at the first carrier frequency to the mobile communication device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10348449
Abstract: A method includes processing error correction encoded data by a first processing chain of a transmitter. The processing includes interleaving a first portion of the error correction encoded data with respect to a first interleaving period to generate a first output signal. Interleaving the first portion includes de-multiplexing the first portion among multiple branches having respective delays in accordance with a distribution order and re-multiplexing delayed data from the branches to form the first output signal. The method includes processing the error correction encoded data by a second processing chain of the transmitter without use of interleaving to generate a second output signal. The method includes multiplexing the first output signal and the second output signal into a multiplexed stream. The method also includes transmitting the multiplexed stream from the transmitter over a communication channel to a receiver.

  • Patent number: 10348749
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for detecting a port scan in a network are disclosed. For example, the method extracts statistics from a message, detects the port scan for a source internet protocol address, determines whether a port scan record exists for the source internet protocol address, creates a port scan record for the source internet protocol address that is extracted when the port scan record does not exist, determines an elapsed time when the port scan record does exist, wherein the elapsed time is determined as a difference between the time stamp that is extracted and a recorded time stamp, sets the recorded time stamp to be the extracted time stamp when the elapsed time is less than an intra-scan time, and determines the port scan has ended for the source internet protocol address when the elapsed time is not less than the intra-scan time.

  • Patent number: 10348328
Abstract: Programming of frozen bits of first stage control channel information block enables scheduling information to be included for the second stage of the control channel information. By including some of the scheduling information for the second stage in the first stage frozen bits, the size of the first stage information blocks can be reduced, reducing the overhead required to transmit control information for the traffic channel. In an embodiment, the frozen bits can convey scheduling information that is lower priority than the scheduling information conveyed in the non-frozen bits of the first stage control channel information block. In another embodiment, the frozen bits can include parity bits, or cyclic redundancy check bits that are masked with the scheduling information.

  • Patent number: 10348849
Abstract: A method includes generating, at a media device, a user profile based on first data received from a portable device. The first data indicates media content sent to a display device of the portable device by an application on the portable device. The method includes recording, via the media device, a media content item from a content source, where the media content item is selected based on the user profile. The method also includes sending the media content item from the media device to the portable device via a local area network. The portable device stores the media content item at a pre-cache memory to enable the portable device to playback the media content item from the pre-cache memory when the portable device is not able to communicate via the local area network.

  • Patent number: 10349006
Abstract: A network-based, e.g., cloud-based, and apparatus based in-call command control for dynamically performing user commands such as voice commands or gesture commands are provided. The result allows for hands free operation of a calling system including one where the user is located separate from a base station, and provides for recognizing both voice and gestural commands. Filtering of commands can be performed dynamically so that commands are not perceived by those participating in the call. Further, the user, who has given the command, can be notified regarding the performance of the requested command.

  • Patent number: 10348650
Abstract: A processor may apply data blocks of a training data set to a pattern matching algorithm to identify whether the data blocks match a pattern, determine points of divergence between the data blocks and the pattern, count a number of times that each of a plurality of positions in the pattern is determined to be a point of divergence, and determine a position with a highest count of a number of times that the position is determined to be a point of divergence. The processor may further receive an incoming data block, compare a data value at the position in the pattern with the highest count to a data value at a corresponding position in the incoming data block, and determine a mismatch when the data value at the position in the pattern and the data value at the corresponding position in the incoming data block are different.

  • Patent number: 10347292
Abstract: A system for providing digital video recorder options for editing content is disclosed. In particular, the system may include receiving requests for a first version of media content and providing access to the first version of the media content. A user that accesses the first version of the media content may select a portion of the media content, and indicate whether, for example, the portion should be skipped, modified, or emphasized when the media content is accessed on a subsequent occasion. The system, based on the selection and indication, may edit the first version of the media content to create a second version of the media content. When a subsequent attempt is made to access the first version of the media content, the system may provide the user with the option to access the second version of the media content.
