Patent number: 10269195Abstract: Physical access to secure areas is automatically performed based on presence or detection of a wireless device. When a wireless cellular device is detected by a network serving a secure building, a unique identifier of the wireless cellular device is obtained. The identifier of the wireless cellular device may be compared to electronic calendars. If a matching calendar entry is determined, then the wireless cellular device is calendared to meet an employee or tenant inside the building. Physical access may thus be automatically granted, based on possession of a recognized cellular device.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2017Date of Patent: April 23, 2019Assignee: AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P.Inventors: Craig Arthur Klein, Gregory O. Patent number: 10271333Abstract: Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to service aware carrier aggregation. According to one aspect disclosed herein, an eNodeB (“eNB”) can learn, via a primary serving cell (“PSC”), that a user equipment (“UE”) has a capability to utilize a carrier aggregation feature. The eNB can receive policy information and service information, and can learn, via the PSC, a service requested by the UE. The eNB can determine, based at least in part upon the policy information, the service information, and the service, whether to implement the carrier aggregation feature to provide the service to the UE. When the eNB determines that the carrier aggregation feature is to be implemented, the eNB can inform the UE to reconfigure a radio resource control (“RRC”) configuration to include the PSC and a secondary serving cell (“SSC”). The eNB can allocate physical media resources for the service from the PSC and the SSC.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2016Date of Patent: April 23, 2019Assignees: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P., AT&T Mobility II LLCInventors: Zhi Cui, Cheng P. Patent number: 10263666Abstract: A broadband powerline communication system makes use of knowledge of the spectrum characteristics of a local radio environment in order to improve system performance. A determination is made of the spectrum characteristics of a radio environment in the vicinity of the broadband powerline communication system that is transmitting data on modulated carrier frequencies. In order to avoid interference, certain ones of the carrier frequencies otherwise used by the broadband powerline communication system may be selectively masked based on the determination. The spectrum characteristics may be determined 1) in advance and used to compile a configuration database comprising frequency masking parameters; 2) by monitoring the local radio environment using the transmitter/receiver nodes of the system; or 3) based upon receipt of an indication from a conflicting user that the user is experiencing interference. Various combinations of these spectrum characteristic determination techniques may also be used.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2017Date of Patent: April 16, 2019Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventors: Irwin Gerszberg, Paul Shala Henry, Larrie G. Patent number: 10264517Abstract: Battery life of a user equipment (UE) can be extended when the UE is roaming internationally in a country that has multiple carrier networks each utilizing multiple public land mobile network (PLMN) identifiers. Scan control tables, stored in a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) of the UE, are populated with the identifiers of a PLMN having the highest priority in a defined area (e.g., Circle). A roaming control applet of the UICC can compare serving cell data with the scan control tables to determine if the UE is to perform a higher priority (HP) PLMN search. Utilization of the scan control table avoids unnecessary searches for HPPLMNs that are unavailable in the UE's current location and accordingly extends battery life of the UE.Type: GrantFiled: February 17, 2017Date of Patent: April 16, 2019Assignee: AT&T MOBILITY II LLCInventor: Inderpreet Singh Ahluwalia

Patent number: 10264390Abstract: A radio access network system is described that determines a signal metric associated with a user equipment or device. The user equipment device can implement an altered transmission policy. The altered transmission policy can alter a strength of transmissions by increasing power consumption per transmission, increasing a length of timer per transmission, and altering other parameters of transmissions. The altered transmission policy can also alter an error correction policy. The error correction policy can indicate that error correction transmissions are to be decreased. The altered transmission policy can be implemented until the signal metric changes to a more desirable level.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2017Date of Patent: April 16, 2019Assignees: AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P., AT&T MOBILITY II LLCInventors: Jeffrey Krinsky, Bahman Khosravi-Sichani

Patent number: 10262439Abstract: Optimal resilience to errors in packetized streaming 3-D wireframe animation is achieved by partitioning the stream into layers and applying unequal error correction coding to each layer independently to maintain the same overall bitrate. The unequal error protection scheme for each of the layers combined with error concealment at the receiver achieves graceful degradation of streamed animation at higher packet loss rates than approaches that do not account for subjective parameters such as visual smoothness.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2018Date of Patent: April 16, 2019Assignee: AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY II, L.P.Inventors: Joern Ostermann, Sokratis Varakliotis
