The mobile device can determine a target time for sending a request for transmission of a data packet over the network where the target time is determined based on the performance characteristics for the network segments and based on the future power state of the mobile device. The mobile device can schedule a time for sending the request for transmission according to the target time. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract: Security systems are warned of earthquakes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters. When an early warning system detects a natural disaster, the early warning system alerts a central server. The early warning system alerts the central server to the natural event and its associated geographic area. The central server may then consult a database and determine the security systems operating in a vicinity of the geographic area experiencing the natural event. The central server may thus warn the security systems of the natural event. The security systems may then implement pre-programmed procedures to protect life and property during earthquakes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters.

Abstract: Directional sound location is used to determine security events of a security system. A sound sensor reports a vector direction to a sound source of an acoustic signal. If the vector direction is historically observed at similar times, then perhaps the sound source is not considered a security event. However, if the vector direction is unknown or unfamiliar, the security system may infer the security event and notify emergency services.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to privacy-preserving location corroborations. According to one aspect, a localized corroborator system can receive a message digest from a user device. The message digest can be generated by the user device using a cryptographic hash function based upon bitwise XOR of a user identifier and a location proof identifier. The location proof identifier can uniquely identify a location proof to be created by the system. The system can concatenate a corroborator identifier, a location, a time, and the message digest to create a concatenated message. The system can sign the concatenate message using a private key to create the location proof and can send the corroborator identifier and the location proof to the user device. The user device can use the location proof to prove that the user was located at the location at the time.
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products index digital scenes in digital media. A uniform resource locator is assigned to each different digital scene within the digital media. The uniform resource locator uniquely identifies a resource from which each different digital scene may be retrieved. Individual scenes may thus be retrieved, thus conserving bandwidth and memory.
Abstract: A connector position assurance (CPA) device for assuring the full engagement of a female connector assembly and a male connector assembly in a connector apparatus, and the connector apparatus having the female connector assembly and the male connector assembly engaged together when the CPA device is at a full-lock position. Prior to the CPA device being at a full-lock position, the female connector assembly, with the CPA device at a pre-lock position therein, enters the male connector assembly for engagement thereto. At such time, protruding members of a flexible member of the female connector assembly enter a side elongated slot of the male connector assembly.

Abstract: A pet toy product comprising at least one edible treat and a body member in the form of a ring surrounding the edible treat, with the body member having opposing sides and a body member aperture. The edible treat is receivable into the body member aperture from either side of the body member, and connected to the body member within the body member aperture by a releaseable mechanical connection formed between the edible treat and the body member.
Abstract: A heterogeneous network comprising macro network devices and micro network devices operates to maintain a dynamic data set of neighbor relations for a potential transfer of a User Equipment (UE) device from one network zone to another network zone. In response to detecting a failure of a macro network device to establish a network connection with a network device, a dynamic management of the data set initiates. A capacity number of network connections is determined for the macro network device (e.g., macro eNB sector carrier) based on the data set of neighbor relations. A threshold number is determined from the network neighbor device data, representing the set of micro network devices with which the macro network device is operable to establish the network. A defined number of micro network devices is maintained that is less than the threshold number of the network neighbor device data.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for altering permitted settings of a vehicle according to a driver identified through short range wireless communication. The vehicle captures a unique identifier from a wireless communication device of the driver of the vehicle. This unique identifier is used to reference a database to determine the identity of the driver as well as settings for the driver created by a controlling authority. The controlling authority may be, for instance, a parent or employer of the driver. The settings may limit certain devices within the vehicle and/or the vehicle itself. Speed control settings, radio settings, wireless communication device settings, and various other settings are all possible to limit distractions to the driver. Further, the settings may be influenced by the number or identities of passengers within the vehicle.

Abstract: In some implementations, a telecommunications network can include a core network device communicatively connectable with user equipment (UE). The UE can generate a registration request including a subsidiary request and transmit the registration request. The core network device can receive the registration request, determine the subsidiary request based on content of the registration request, and transmit an indication of the subsidiary request on behalf of the UE via the telecommunications network. A core network device can receive a registration request associated with a user equipment (UE), determine a subsidiary request based on content of the registration request, and transmit toward the UE an acknowledgement associated with both the registration request and the subsidiary request.
Abstract: A system for delaying or inhibiting data is provided in order to shorten the time required for a reselection process from a first communication protocol to a second communication protocol. Reselection from the first communication protocol to the second communication protocol (e.g., 3G to 4G) requires a period of time without data transfers to allow the reselection to complete. The system delays or inhibits data transfers on the mobile device until the reselection process completes or the mobile device is idle for a predetermined length of time. In an embodiment, the system can buffer outgoing data and then send the data once the reselection has completed. In other embodiments, the system can drop packet sessions or ignore incoming packet pages. In another embodiment, the system can delay or inhibit data based on the priority of the data.

Abstract: Employing a set of open gears in a bicycle drivetrain allows disengaging the connection between the crank arms and the driven wheel. When the fold axis passes approximately through the mesh plane between the aforementioned gears, and said axis is offset from the center plane of the gears in the direction of the fold by at least one-half the gear width, by design even a small angular displacement around the fold axis opens instantly producing a gap between the gears that increases as the fold proceeds, thus breaking and disengaging the connection between the crank arms and driven wheel, thus leaving the displacement of the fold to complete its angular cycle without regard or interference from the newly separated drivetrain. In its folded configuration, the bicycle can roll backwards, forwards, and spin or pirouette on its own axis.
