Abstract: A cell culture system for fermentation or cultivation of at least one of cells, tissues or tissue-like cell cultures, organs or organ-like cell cultures and multicellular organisms comprises: a system vessel (1) in which at least one cavity (6) is formed, the cavity (6) having at least three ports (2, 3, 4); at least one porous substrate (9) installed within the cavity (6) so as to allow fluid flowing from any one to any other of said three ports (2, 3, 4) to pass through said porous substrate (9); and, at least one channel extending from a first one of said ports (3) within the porous substrate (9) towards a central region of said porous substrate (9).
