  • Patent number: 6510712
Abstract: Sliding-tongue compound needle comprising a needle (1) equipped with a hook (3) and with a sliding tongue (2) straddling the needle and equipped with an end (12) and with a shoulder (13), the bottom of the sliding tongue being longitudinally slotted in its distal region comprising the end (12) and the shoulder (13) so as to allow the end to be parted, the sliding tongue being movable relative to the needle to close and open the hook of the needle and to carry a stitch by its shoulder. This needle has means (6) for the vertical guidance of the sliding tongue (2) as it moves relative to the needle (1) so that the sliding tongue moves in a non-rectilinear path.

  • Patent number: 5987932
Abstract: A slider type needle for a knitting machine, comprising a needle (1) equipped with a beard (3) and a slider (2) having an associated length, a butt (4), a nose (5) and a stitch bearing shoulder (6), this slider being displaceable relative to the needle in order to close and open the beard of the needle and in order to permit the nose and shoulder of the needle to drive a stitch so as to execute a stitch transfer. The slider (2) has a U-shaped profile enabling it to straddle the needle (1). The slidcr is split (7, 15) in its end region, in order to allow an opposite needle or slider to pass through in order to carry out a stitch transfer or punching. This needle affords new knitting possibilities, in particular it makes it possible to carry out punching without an auxiliary section.

  • Patent number: 5417087
Abstract: The machine comprises two knitting beds (2, 3) and at least one pair of opposed cam carriers (4, 5). These cam carriers are independent and are driven individually, for example by notched belts (10, 13) and motors (12, 15). The elimination of the bow of the carriage makes it possible to provide a large number of bars (17 to 22) for yarn guides driven individually. The yarns arrive at the yarn guides along the shortest path, and the working speed can be increased considerably.

  • Patent number: 4757697
Abstract: The machine comprises a knitting head (2), a camholder carriage (3) and several striping bars (7), on which thread guides (6, 6a) are mounted between two movable stop blocks (9, 9a) and are equipped with a thread catcher (21, 21a) and driven by fingers (25, 25a). Auxiliary drive means (11) for the stop blocks and a mechanism for attaching the thread guides automatically to the stop blocks, detachable by means of the drive finger (25), make it possible at any moment to shift the thread guides together with one of these stop blocks independently of the movement of the carriage, thus making it possible to move away the thread catcher when it stops knitting, in the production of INTARSIA knitted fabrics.

  • Patent number: 4669280
Abstract: The camholder possesses at least one section having an axis of symmetry (A) passing through the center of a first sinker selection cam (14) and through the center of a needle transfer cam (25). The transfer cam (25) is retractable by means of a control device. Arranged on either side of the axis of symmetry (A) are sinker selection cams (15, 16), taker-up cams (17, 18), loom-style cams (19, 20) and transfer and receiving cams (21, 22). All these cams, arranged between the selection cams, are automatically retractable. The camholder has a single type of drop, and it makes it possible in one and the same drop to carry out both knitting and stitch transfer forwards or backwards and in both directions of movement of the carriage.

  • Patent number: 4621506
Abstract: Each needle groove formed in the needle bed of the knitting machine for slidably receiving the corresponding needle comprises a first dip registering with the major portion of the needle in the longitudinal direction, as well as a second, deeper dip engageable by a bent portion of the needle catch when this catch is retracted in the groove by a cam so as to clear the catch from the cam path, notably the path of the knockwing-over cam. When the needle is pushed by the key associated therewith or when this needle is selected in its operative position, the bent portion of the needle is raised by a ramp for engagement with the first, shallower dip.

  • Patent number: 4586352
Abstract: Rectilinear knitting machine comprising a frame consisting of two shaped bearing sections, preferably made of bent and soldered sheet steel, extending underneath the needle beds and equipped with vertical standards distributed along the shaped sections and supporting the needle beds with adjustable supports. This constructions enables the length of the needle beds to be increased, while guaranteeing their linearity. In addition, the space between the needle beds is freed for accommodation of rollers and a drawing device.

  • Patent number: 4505135
Abstract: A safety device is provided for a knitting machine to ensure that the carriage stops in the case of sudden variation of the speed as a result of an impact or other occurrence such as tangling of the yarn into a ball. The device includes a metal strip formed with equidistant perforations assembled parallel to one of the needle bars of the knitting machine. A bridge integral with the carriage moves along this strip, and has on one side an emitter and on the other a transducer. When the carriage moves the succession of perforations gives rise to pulses of length inversely proportional to the translational speed of the carriage. A CPU processing unit processes the signal obtained after amplification and shaping of the pulses and delivers a STOP signal when a sudden disturbance is detected in the movement of the carriage.

  • Patent number: 4429553
Abstract: A cam-support carriage for a knitting machine comprises movable cams for controlling knitting needles. The cams are adapted to be put out of operation by an electro-magnetic positioning device. The electro-magnetic device comprises a permanent magnet having a low coercive field associated with a magnetization/demagnetization coil and a moving part of ferromagnetic metal, integral with the cam to be positioned. The coil is connected to an excitation and control circuit ensuring magnetization and demagnetization of the permanent magnet by a current pulse in the coil, in order respectively to attract and release said moving part and its integral cam in order to being the cam out of or into operation.

  • Patent number: 4413482
Abstract: A cam-support for a knitting machine for the entrainment of the push-rods, respectively of the needles, according to the so-called "three-way" technique, having first, second and third lifting cams intended to entrain the abutment surfaces of the push-rods, respectively of the needles, at several different selection points, so that the needles operate either for shaping, or for picking up or so that they do not operate. The first and second lifting cams are located one beside the other and the third lifting cam is located between them but is separated therefrom by a first channel between the first and third cams and by a second channel between the second and third cams. The channels merge in an empty space between all three cams.

  • Patent number: 4359881
Abstract: A drawing device for a straight knitting machine comprises two belts capable of being continuously driven in opposite directions by respective drive shafts over two pulleys of small diameter. The pulleys are located in the area in which the stitches are formed and extend over the entire useful length of the needle rows of the knitting machine. The pulleys and thereby the belts are supported by pivoting frames and the belts are pressed one against the other by the rotation of their drive shafts. In use, knitting is drawn gently and continuously, with the possibility of sliding, between the belts, as the stitches are formed and quite close to the area in which these stitches are formed.
