Patent number: 5505752Abstract: An exhaust treatment system having a water scrubber, a centrifugal water trap for removing water droplets from exhaust flow and a filter for cleaning exhaust gases. The components are housed contiguously so that exhaust piping is not needed between the components. The water trap includes a frustoconical peripheral wall and a plurality of conduits having apertures for directing exhaust obliquely against the wall. The conduit apertures face in the same rotational direction to generate a rotational circulation of exhaust within the trap, which is entirely encircled by an annular filter. The water trap and filter are housed in a portion of the housing that is a low profile flat disc shaped to extend only a limited distance above the scrubber to which it is directly attached.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1994Date of Patent: April 9, 1996Assignee: Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Technique ABInventors: Richard A. Burrous, Theodore E. Vanderheyden, James W. Haase, Todd D. Segna

Patent number: 5228752Abstract: Tunnel boring machine whose driving shaft (4) adjacent to the boring head (6) is journalled in a bearing (12) which is intended to take up only radial forces. Shaft (4) is at its other end journalled in bearings (13,14) which take up both radial and axial forces.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1991Date of Patent: July 20, 1993Assignee: Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Technique ABInventor: Sverker Hartwig

Patent number: 5209311Abstract: Drill string component for top hammer drilling comprising a rod (13) surrounded by a tube packet (4,5). The rod is provided with a thickened section (14) for cooperation with a diameter reduction (15) in the tube packet which at upwards drilling is situated below the section (14). Through this flushing liquid is prevented from flowing out of the drill string when the drill string is extended.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1991Date of Patent: May 11, 1993Assignee: Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Technique ABInventor: Lennart Donse

Patent number: 5165825Abstract: Rock bolting device comprising a swingable bolting unit (2) which carries a conduit (4) for transport of hardenable mass to a drill hole (3). The conduit is surrounded by a tube (5) in which a thickened part (6) of the conduit is movable to-and-fro under sealing cooperation with the tube. Through this the conduit (4) can be fed towards or away from the mouth (7) of the drill hole (3).Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1991Date of Patent: November 24, 1992Assignee: Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Technique ABInventor: Per Wallin

Patent number: 5114279Abstract: Device for setting a rock bolt. The device is provided with a bolt magazine (6) arranged on a feed beam (1). Rock bolts (8) are transferred from the bolt magazine to the setting position in line with a hole drilled in the rock by means of a swingable arm (9) and displacement of a bolt setting machine (5).Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1991Date of Patent: May 19, 1992Assignee: Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Technique ABInventors: Jan Bjerngren, Sven Eriksson, Lars Persson

Patent number: 5104262Abstract: Tunnel boring machine comprising a number of swingable arms (11,12,13,14) provided with boring tools (41,42,43,44) for the working of the tunnel wall outside its normal diameter. The arms may be swung outwardly into an active position or retracted into an inactive position. These tools may be independently actuated and facilitate the insertion of steel supporting arcs into the excavated area.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1990Date of Patent: April 14, 1992Assignee: Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Technique ABInventors: Jan H. Forsberg, Carl S. M. Hartwig, Nils M. Astrand

Patent number: 5060735Abstract: Device for positioning of a drill bit (1) at a positioning plane (2). A drill rig (3) is provided with two video cameras (9) for sensing the position of a light source (8) adjacent the drill bit. The video cameras are aligned in parallel. The image fields of the video cameras are displaced such relative to each other that the light source gives two points (20,21) on a monitor (10) common to the two cameras if the light source is situated outside the positioning plane and one point (11) if the light source is situated in the positioning plane.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1990Date of Patent: October 29, 1991Assignee: Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Technique ABInventor: Nils .ANG.gren

Patent number: 5058690Abstract: Rock working tool for a tunnel boring machine. The tool comprises a shaft (34) with a central hole (35). A tool part (8,9) is rotatably journalled on the shaft. The tool is cooled through the arrangement of channels (40,41,42) in the tool for conducting cooling liquid from a pressure liquid source (22) to the central hole and via the channel (42) which flushes directly on the tool part (8,9).Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1990Date of Patent: October 22, 1991Assignee: Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Technique ABInventors: Carl S. Patent number: 5050939Abstract: A hydraulic wheel braking system for a vehicle includes wet disc wheel brakes that are applied by a single spring-activated piston within each brake housing. Each piston is selectively and variably disengaged from the brake discs by variable hydraulic pressure acting against the piston in opposition to spring pressure to enable controlled wheel rotation. During vehicle operation, brake fluid pressure at the pistons is controlled by a foot pedal-operated brake valve. A manually-operated parking and control valve assembly can selectively disable the brake valve and relieve hydraulic pressure at the pistons to spring-apply the pistons to the discs. The assembly acts to automatically spring-apply the pistons to the discs upon a loss of brake or transmission clutch fluid pressure.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1990Date of Patent: September 24, 1991Assignee: Atlas Copco Construction and Mining Technique ABInventors: Paul J.
