Patents Assigned to Atlas Materials Testing Technology, L.L.C.
  • Patent number: 7318672
Abstract: An accelerated weathering test apparatus of the type used to concentrate solar radiation upon test specimens including a heating element that transfers energy to the test specimens. A temperature sensor is operatively coupled to one of the test specimens for generating a test signal representative of the operating temperature of the test specimens. A controller for generating a temperature set point is connected to the temperature sensor and responsive to the test signal for selectively controlling a power level applied to the heating element in order to control a rate at which energy is transferred to the test specimens.

  • Patent number: 7222548
Abstract: A black panel assembly for use in an accelerated weathering test device having a specimen table includes a platform disposed on the specimen table, the platform including a plurality of standoffs and a mounting surface, wherein the plurality of standoffs elevate the mounting surface relative to the specimen table. The black panel assembly additionally includes a black panel having an exposure side and a mounting side, wherein the black panel is mounted on the platform from the mounting side. The black panel assembly further includes a temperature sensor connected to the exposure side of the black panel.

  • Patent number: 7174781
Abstract: An accelerated weathering test apparatus of the type used to concentrate solar radiation upon test specimens including a fixture connected to a target board including a frame spaced from the target board a predetermined distance by a plurality of stand-offs and having at least one opening defined therein and a transparent element connected to the frame in alignment with each at least one opening in a covering orientation such that the solar radiation from a reflecting solar concentrator impinges upon the test specimens. The predetermined distance is configured such that the frame functions as an extension of a deflector and an operating temperature of the test specimens is shielded from external influences.

  • Patent number: 6946652
Abstract: An apparatus for accelerated weathering testing specimens including discharge lamps as a concentrated light source for accelerating the deterioration of color, composition and/or structure of test specimens. Improved control calibration structures and methods of operation are also included. The test module to monitor the weathering test process from an improved location, detecting irradiance in the manner in which the specimens are exposed to such irradiance. The test modules are mounted in a pocket formed within the door for the test chamber such that the sensitive electronics of the modules are not exposed to the harsh environment within the test chamber, resulting in an exceptionally stable signal.

  • Patent number: 6659638
Abstract: An accelerated weathering test apparatus for concentrating solar radiation upon at least one test specimen including a target board, a reflector device, an air circulation device, a feedback device, an input device and a controller. Ambient air is circulated over the target board to cool the test specimens. The controller continuously sets a dynamic set point based on the reference signal from the input device which is representative of a complex temperature cycle of a material end-use application and adjusts the rate of air circulation based on a test signal from the feedback device.
