Abstract: Improved stabilizer compositions are provided which impart significant long-term stabilization to halogen containing polymers such as polyvinyl chloride. The improved stabilizer compositions incorporate an alkali-metal hydrogen phosphate compound, such as anhydrous disodium hydrogen phosphate, of a predetermined surface area. The novel inorganic phosphate enables a reduction in the amount of organmetallic stabilizer, if desired, while still yielding long-term stability in the resultant polymer, or the ability to raise process temperature and reduce cycle times of molding operations.
Abstract: Imidation-modified MMA (co)polymers, characteristically having a Tg from 20.degree. to 30.degree. C. higher than the Tg of the corresponding unmodified MMA (co)polymer, are produced by reacting an amine, e.g., methylamine or cyclohexylamine, with a suspension, in a hydrophobic nonsolvent reaction medium, of beads of such MMA polymer/copolymer.

Abstract: N-(2,2,6,6-tetraalkyl-4-piperidinyl)amic acid hydrazides contain a light stabilizing group, a heat stabilizing group and an amic acid hydrazide functionality in the same molecule. The amic acid hydrazide functionality in the compounds enhances the photooxidative stabilizing properties of the hindered amine groups and contributes thermal and oxidative stabilizing and metal complexing properties to the compounds. The novel compounds are excellent light stabilizers for polyolefins, have low volatility and are not readily lost from polymeric systems via volatilization, migration or extraction.
