  • Patent number: 9016793
Abstract: An adjustable armrest includes a housing with opposite walls. Each of the walls has a bore formed in it. The boxes support a pivot pin with a gear so that the armrest is pivotable on the pin. A ratchet with a pawl is pivotably connected to and carried by the armrest. The ratchet is also configured so that the pawl may engage the gear to define incremental ratcheting movement of the armrest on the pin when the armrest is pivoted in one direction. There is also provided a cam ring selectively movable with the armrest for rotational engagement with the gear. The cam ring has an exterior cam surface that contacts a portion of the ratchet and pivots the ratchet clear of engagement with the gear when the armrest is pivoted in another direction. The new armrest incorporates fewer components lowering cost of production, improving torsion force and load bearing capabilities, improving life of the furniture piece and strengthening armrest and furniture piece assembly.

  • Patent number: 8960733
Abstract: A new latch device for a screen door includes inside and outside handle assemblies. Each assembly has a lever adapted to be pivotably connected, respectively, to the inboard and outboard side of the screen door. The inboard lever has a paddle at one end and a stem at the other. The stem extends through an opening formed in the screen door. When the paddle is depressed, the stem moves along a cam surface formed in the outboard lever. This causes the outboard lever to disengage the fastener on the solid door to disconnect the solid door from the screen door. Additionally, when the screen door is in its latched position and not connected to the solid door, depressing the paddle causes the latching end of the outboard lever to disengage the doorjamb so that the screen door can be moved independently from its latched position into its open position.

  • Patent number: 8585004
Abstract: An adjustable seat pedestal that allows a user to adjust the height of the seat without sacrificing ride quality. The seat pedestal has a top carrier onto which a seat is mounted and a base that is mounted to the floor of a vehicle. A scissor linkage is employed to allow movement of the carrier toward the base when force is applied through the seat to the carrier when the vehicle hits bumps and forces the user downward. An air bag biases the top carrier upward away from the base. As the upper ends of the scissor linkage move closer together by being pushed upward, a sliding end of the scissor linkage is restrained from movement inward and therefore, limits the maximum height of the pedestal. The pressure in the air bag may be varied which will not change the height above the maximum, but will change the ride quality.
