Abstract: A system and method are provided for utilizing a device positioned at or near a signage plate to provide non-visual assistance in approaching the signage plate's location when activated by a digital signal. A venue might improve accessibility by installing the invented device next to or even behind one or more restroom signs. A visitor using this accessibility feature might utilize a fob provided by the venue or a personal device such as a smartphone with a compatible app, such that the visitor can press a button and activate the invented device to generate a non-visual cue to assist the visitor in locating the device and associated sign, such as emitting an audio sound. The fob or phone might further provide additional guidance, such as emitting the same sound as the sign device so that the visitor knows what sound to listen for, or providing additional information.

Abstract: A system for audibly conveying financial information includes at least one processor operatively coupled to a data source via a network, and configured to receive at least one user-selected musical parameter, as well as financial data from the data source associated with a financial asset. The financial data includes a variable parameter which varies over a time period. The at least one processor is further configured to determine, for a plurality of values of the variable parameter during the time period, a plurality of musical notes based on the plurality of values of the variable parameter and the user-selected musical parameter, and to generate audio data associated with the plurality of musical notes. The generated audio data is processable by a device to audibly produce the plurality of musical notes.

Abstract: Embodiments cover identifying an unidentified media content item as a cover of a known media content item using lyrical contents. In an example, a processing device receives an unidentified media content item and determines lyrical content associated with the unidentified media content item. The processing device then determines a lyrical similarity between the lyrical content associated with the unidentified media content item and additional lyrical content associated with a known media content item of a plurality of known media content items. The processing device then identifies the unidentified media content item as a cover of the known media content item based at least in part on the lyrical similarity, resulting in an identified cover-media content item.

Abstract: A system for and a method of controlling generation of a 3D audio stream are disclosed. The method comprises accessing an audio stream; determining a value of a feature associated with the audio stream; selecting one or more 3D control parameters from a set of 3D control parameters, the selecting being based on the value of the feature associated with the audio stream; and generating the 3D audio stream based on the selected one or more 3D control parameters. In some embodiments, the feature is a metric associated with a frequency distribution of correlations of the audio stream.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a processing device receives a first digital fingerprint of a media item along with a first content management rule. The processing device separately receives a second digital fingerprint of the media item along with a second content management rule. The processing device determines that the received digital fingerprints are for the same media item based upon a match between the first digital fingerprint and the second digital fingerprint. The processing device determines that all rights to the media item have been accounted for, and then determines a set of actions to be performed for hosted media items comprising the media item based at least in part upon the first content management rule and the second content management rule. Processing logic may also perform a conflict resolution process for conflicting rights claims to the media item.

Abstract: A system for and a method of generating an audio image for use in rendering audio. The method comprises accessing an audio stream; accessing positional information, the positional information comprising a first position, a second position and a third position; and generating an audio image. In some embodiments, generating the audio image comprises generating, based on the audio stream, a first virtual wave front to be perceived by a listener as emanating from the first position; generating, based on the audio stream, a second virtual wave front to be perceived by the listener as emanating from the second position; and generating, based on the audio stream, a third virtual wave front to be perceived by the listener as emanating from the third position.

Abstract: This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for generating captions for audio content items. For instance, a system may store a user profile that is associated with audio content items. When a user associated with the user profile requests captions, the system may determine which audio content items have available captions and which audio content items do not have available captions. For the audio content items that do not have available captions, the system may determine priorities for the audio content items. The system may then cause the captions to be generated based on the priorities. When the captions are generated, the system may update statuses of the audio content items to indicate that the captions are available. The system may further store the captions in a database that is accessible to the user.

Abstract: This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for providing captions with audio content. For instance, an electronic device may receive first data representing audio content and second data representing captions that are available for the audio content. The electronic device may then select portions of the captions for display while outputting the audio content. In some instances, the electronic device selects the portions using timestamps represented by the second data. For instance, the electronic device may select a portion of the captions such that the portion of the captions begins at a first pause within the audio content and/or ends at a second pause within the audio content. In some instances, the electronic device may also display graphical elements that indicate the current location within the captions.

Abstract: An unidentified media content item may be received by a processing device. A set of features of the unidentified media content item may be determined. Metadata associated with the unidentified media content item may be determined. A first similarity between the metadata associated with the unidentified media content item and additional metadata associated with a known media content item from a media content repository may be determined. A second similarity between the set of features of the unidentified media content item and an additional set of features associated with the known media content item may be determined. The unidentified media content item may be identified as a cover of the known media content item based on the first similarity and the second similarity by the processing device.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a processing device receives a request to claim ownership of a first hosted media item on a first media sharing platform, wherein the request is received from a rights holder that holds one or more rights to a claimed media item that is incorporated into the first hosted media item. The processing device adds an indicator of the ownership of the rights holder to a first entry for the first hosted media item in a data store. The processing device determines that a second hosted media item having a threshold similarity to the first hosted media item is hosted by a second media sharing platform. The processing device automatically adds an indicator of the ownership of the rights holder to a second entry for the second hosted media item without receiving a separate request to claim ownership of the second hosted media item.

Abstract: Described herein are techniques for providing a dictionary capabilities associated with foreign language learning content items. In some cases, a foreign language learning application operation on a device may cause definitions associated with a word to be displayed on a display of the device concurrently with the word and at least some text surrounding the word. In some cases, the definitions may be provided in the language of the content item and in a language native the user.

Abstract: Devices and methods are provided for extracting content from audio files. The device may determine starting and ending quotation marks in a text file, and a string between the starting and ending quotation marks. The device may determine that a verb is near the starting quotation mark or the ending quotation mark. The device may determine, based on the verb, that the string is attributed to a character name in the text file. The device may determine a first time in a first audio file including an audio representation of the text file, and may determine a second time in the first audio file, wherein the first time is before the first word and the second time is after the second word. The device may generate a second audio file by extracting audio from the first audio file based on the first and second times.

Abstract: Features are disclosed for determining the vocabulary of a user and identifying content items appropriate for the user based on the user's personal vocabulary. The user's vocabulary can be determined by analyzing user-generated textual items. Based on the analysis of such user-generated textual items, a list of words used frequently by the user in the user's own writings can be identified as being in the user's vocabulary. The list of words in the user's vocabulary can be compared to the words in various content items to determine a degree to which the words used in the content are in the user's vocabulary. Content can then be recommended or otherwise determined to be appropriate for the user's vocabulary, identified as challenging, too difficult, or too easy, etc.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for automated analysis of audio recordings and/or automated recommendations of audio recordings. The audio recordings may be automatically analyzed based on power, frequency, tempo, complexity, dimensionality, other audio features, and/or some combination thereof. Automated recommendations of audio recordings may be provided based at least on the variability levels. User interfaces may be provided to receive user feedback of preferred audio recordings and to select audio recordings to recommend based on the user feedback and the automated analysis. The automated recommendations may be further based on user purchase data and/or listening history.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining user interface controls associated with hierarchical levels during media content playback. In some embodiments, instructions may be provided to display user interface controls associated with a level of media content, such as a chapter level. A change in the level of media content and/or the user interface controls associated with the level may be a response to a level change request. A level change request may be initiated by user input and/or may automatically be initiated by the current content playback position.
