Abstract: Autonomous robotic systems are described. In many embodiments, precision movement is achieved using one or more base stations configured to correct errors that accrue in autonomous vehicles nearby. In many embodiments, a fleet of autonomous vehicles are in communication with one or more base stations. In some embodiments, autonomous vehicles have rotating optical beacons which can be identified by base stations. In turn, base stations in various embodiments have rotating cameras and distance measuring modules, where the camera is used to locate the optical beacons. The distance measuring module can be used to measure a precise distance to the optical beacon, and the rotation angles of both the optical beacon and base station modules can be used to precisely localize the autonomous vehicle relative to the base station. In many embodiments, the positions of autonomous vehicles and/or base stations are stored in a virtual map.
Abstract: Systems and methods for downward drilling robotic systems in accordance with embodiment of the invention are illustrated. One embodiment includes a drilling robot. The robot includes an outer casing, a chassis coupled to the outer casing, and a plurality of wheels. The drilling robot further includes at least one drive motor received at least partially in the chassis and configured to rotatably drive the plurality of wheels on a surface, an autonomous control system configured to control movement of the drilling robot along the surface, and a drilling module coupled to the housing that supports a drill for movement along a movement axis transverse to the surface.
