  • Patent number: 7419508
Abstract: The invention relates to a light prosthesis as a purely optical substitute for a missing limb, including a shaped body (1) for replacing the missing limb as naturally as possible and a socket (2) for connecting the prosthesis to the stump (3) of the missing limb. In order to provide such a prosthesis for temporary or permanent use without having to fulfill any functionality, thus being suitable also for elderly patients, it is contemplated that the shaped body (1) is made of a light synthetic material, and that the periphery of the socket (2) for connecting the prosthesis to the stump (3) is variable in a manner known per se. The shaped body (1) may, in particular, also be made of an elastic, air-tight synthetic material (9) and include at least one valve (10) for inflating the shaped body (1).

  • Patent number: 7112680
Abstract: The invention relates to novel 2-benzimidazolyl-, 2-benzoxazolyl- and 2-benzothiazolyl hydrazones that are derived from 2-formylpyridine, 2-acylpyridines, acetyldiazines and acetyl(iso)quinolines. The invention also relates to a novel method for producing 2-benzimidazolyl-, 2-benzoxazolyl- and 2-benzothiazolyl hydrazones and to their use as useful anti-cancer therapeutic agents. The novel compounds are also active against multidrug-resistant cancer cells.

  • Patent number: 7084442
Abstract: The invention involves an array to couple a live cell, in particular a nerve cell, with an electronic circuit to pick up directly or indirectly electrically active cell signals and/or to electronically stimulate the cell, where the coupling array comprises a transistor (T1) with a double gate, where one of the gates is designed as a control gate (CG) to select the transistor via external control signals, and the other gate (FG) is connected to an electrically conducting contact element (1) which may be brought into contact with the cell (2) to register changes in the electric properties of the cell.
