    Abstract: Cool burning hydrate fuels are provided for gas generant compositions for automotive inflatable restraint systems. The cool burning hydrate fuel is a compound comprising carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, a transition metal, and optionally nitrogen. The cool burning hydrate fuel is a transition metal salt of an organic compound or transition metal complex salt having (i) at least one functional group selected from the group consisting of: amide, imide, hydroxyl, carboxylic acid, and combinations thereof, (ii) an oxygen-to-carbon mole ratio of greater than or equal to about 0.5, (iii) at least one-half a water molecule of hydration, and (iv) an exothermic heat of formation of at least about ?400 KJ/mole. The fuel may have a water release temperature of ?about 140° C. The cool burning hydrate fuel may be one or more of copper cyanurate dihydrate, a copper melamine oxalate dihydrate, and a copper malonate hydrate.

The thermally stable crystalline hydrate compound may be selected from the group consisting of: a copper phthalate hydrate, copper pyromellitate dihydrate, copper fumarate dihydrate, copper (3-nitrophthalate) dihydrate, and combinations thereof.

The sensor housing may include a mounting surface and a mounting post extending from the mounting surface. The mounting post may include a gap allowing the diameter of the post to expand and contract. A clip is configured to lock onto the mounting post and extend into the gap to expand a perimeter of the mounting post. By expanding the perimeter, the mounting post is locked through the opening in the sheet metal.

The disclosed airbag may differentially support the occupant buy providing varied degrees of support for the shoulder and pelvis, and the torso, which may be particularly beneficial to an elderly occupant whose bones may be more susceptible to some injury types and modes as a result of age-incident health issues.

    Abstract: A motor vehicle belt restraint system combining a three-point active seatbelt system with a two-point seatbelt system. The webbing of the three-point seatbelt is allowed to slide through a latch plate releasably attached to a seatbelt buckle. The webbing of the two-point belt system is affixed to the latch plate. When in use, the belt systems combine to provide two lap belt segments extending across the lower torso of a vehicle seat occupant with a single diagonal shoulder belt section. Additional embodiments incorporate the use of an anchor mechanism for the three-point belt system having additional capabilities including a webbing release and a load limiting function. Further embodiments provide different arrangements for the two lap belt sections.
