  • Publication number: 20130341894
Abstract: A curtain airbag capable of preventing a partial decrease in internal pressure to improve ejection prevention performance. The airbag includes: a main chamber, which inflates first; a delay chamber that is inflated with gas from the main chamber; a linear seam portion where front and back base fabrics are joined to partition the main chamber from the delay chamber; a planar seam portion formed at a lower end of the linear seam portion to define a non-inflation region in a range of the front and back base fabrics; and a gas inflow channel provided between the planar seam portion and the lower edge of the airbag to allow gas to flow from the main chamber into the delay chamber. The front and back base fabrics of the gas inflow channel sag upon completion of inflation and deployment to form a wrinkled portion that blocks or narrows the gas inflow channel.

  • Publication number: 20130181430
Abstract: A self-locking belt retractor with a belt shaft which is mounted rotatably in a frame having a belt-sensitive a blocking device. A disc cam (1) mounted rotatably on the belt shaft, is pretensioned by a spring in the extension direction of the seat belt and on which an inertial mass (5) is mounted pivotably about a pivot axis (S). A projection (11) limits relative movement between the inertial mass (5) and the disc cam (1) is provided on the inertial mass (5) and/or on the disc cam (1).

  • Publication number: 20110311103
Abstract: A method of automatically detecting objects in front of a motor vehicle comprises the steps of pre-storing template objects representing possible objects in front of the motor vehicle, detecting images from a region in front of the vehicle by a vehicle mounted imaging means, generating a processed image containing disparity or vehicle-to-scene distance information from the detected images, comparing the pre-stored template objects with corresponding regions-of-interest of the processed image, and generating a match result relating to the match between the processed image and the template objects. Each of the pre-stored template objects is a flat two-dimensional multi-pixel area of predetermined shape.

  • Publication number: 20100102542
Abstract: [PROBLEMS] To cushion impact acting on an occupant who is not in a regular position. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] When an abnormality occurs, an airbag device (1) inflates and expands in front of an occupant and absorbs an impact from the front of a vehicle. An airbag (2) to which gas from an inflator is supplied in an abnormality is provided with a vertical recess (2c) facing the head (Ph) of the occupant (P). The recess (2c) is located at the center, in the right and left direction of the vehicle, of an occupant restriction surface (2b) formed at a position facing the occupant (P) sitting on the seat during inflation and expansion. At least one fixed vent (2ea, 2eb) and at least one variable vent (2fan, 2fb) are provided at each of opposite sidewalls (2da, 2db). The fixed vent (2ea, 2eb) has an invariant opening area, and the variable vents (2fan 2fb) has an opening area variable depending on the sitting position of the occupant (P) during expansion.

  • Publication number: 20100038890
Abstract: An air-bag cover arrangement is disclosed which comprises a moveable cover element (25) for covering an air-bag module (5), and design element (15) which is positioned adjacent the cover element. The design element has an overlapping part (16) which overlaps part of the cover element. The arrangement is characterised in that the cover element is moveable relative to the design element but is held by a stop element (18) in a rest position in which the cover element does not contact the overlapping part of the design element but rather a space from the design element.

  • Publication number: 20080164731
Abstract: A vehicle seat 1 comprises a squab (2) and a backrest (3). The headrest (4) is carried by the backrest. The headrest 4 is provided with a mechanism (7) to move the headrest forwardly in the event that an impact should occur. A locking mechanism (9) is provided to lock the headrest to prevent forward movement of the headrest in response to a predetermined signal. The signal may be generated in response to a rear impact in excess of a predetermined severity.

  • Patent number: 6157880
Abstract: A crash detector activates a safety device (3, 4) such as an air-bag in a vehicle. The crash detector incorporates an acceleration sensor (10), the output of which must pass a threshold (11) before the signal is processed by a signal processor (2). The signal is processed optionally in conventional ways (13, 14; 16, 17) to activate the safety device. Activation of the safety device is inhibited by a slam algorithm generator (18). In the slam algorithm generator a control signal is generated which converges towards an average of the acceleration signal during periods of time in which the acceleration signal indicates an inward acceleration in excess of a predetermined level, the control signal being reduced at a substantially constant rate with time during periods in which the acceleration is not in excess of said predetermined level. The control signal is passed to a threshold means (19) which enables (15) actuation of the safety device (3, 4).
