Abstract: An airbag for a knee airbag apparatus which is rapidly deployed upward along a shape of an instrument panel includes a front panel; and a rear panel coupled to the front panel to form an inflation chamber. The front panel neighbors to the instrument panel and the rear panel neighbors to knees of a passenger when the airbag is inflated. The rear panel includes a wrinkle portion which is deployed at a position corresponding to a housing connecting portion to which the instrument panel and a rear end of the housing neighbor when the airbag is inflated, so that an additional inflation chamber is formed.
Abstract: A seatbelt device for preventing a torque limiter mechanism from operating due to inertia force when a gear rotates quickly due to a winding force of an electric actuator, while maintaining satisfactory operating characteristics of the torque limiter mechanism. In the torque limiter mechanism, when a motor is driven to perform a wind-up operation, a prescribed operational torque that is set as a torque at which a limit spring moves from an engaging surface where the limit spring is positioned when a large-diameter side gear and a small-diameter side gear are in an assembled state, to an adjacent engaging surface, is greater than an operational torque at which the limit spring moves from the adjacent engaging surface to a next adjacent engaging surface by means of a shear pin.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a gas generator for a motor vehicle safety device, the generator comprising: a first chamber (C) for combustion containing a pyrotechnic initiator (2) and a pyrotechnic charge (3) whose combustion is triggered by said initiator; and. a second chamber (D) for diffusion into which the gas that results from combustion of said charge (3) is transferred prior to being exhausted to the outside; these two chambers (C, D) being separated from each other by a “nozzle” partition (12) presenting at least one communication orifice (13). According to the invention, said diffusion chamber (D) is provided with a piston (5) suitable for closing or not closing said orifice (13) as a function of the gas pressure in the combustion chamber (C), said piston (5) being urged to its position for closing the orifice (13) by a mass (6) of elastically deformable material, said mass (6) presenting stiffness that varies as a function of temperature, said stiffness decreasing with increasing temperature.
Abstract: A safety arrangement in a motor vehicle includes a support (8) located on the floor (2) of a motor vehicle in front of the front seat (1). The support (8) has an upper surface which is raised to an elevated position to provide yieldable support for the feet of the occupant of the vehicle if an accident occurs. The support (8) may comprise an air-bag associated with a gas generator (6) and a crash sensor (5). When an accident occurs, the feet of the occupant of the vehicle are raised to an elevated position.
