Patent number: 10744546Abstract: A wire cleaning apparatus and method is provided, in which a wire cleaning apparatus includes a passive brush mechanism comprising a helical brush, the helical structure having a helical axis substantially coincident with path of a wire passing through the wire cleaning apparatus. The helical brush includes a plurality of first bristles generally oriented inwardly from the helical structure toward the wire, and the helical brush may be compressed or extended to adjust the inner diameter of the helical brush. The wire cleaning apparatus further comprises an active brush mechanism disposed around the wire and configured to rotate around the wire. The active brush mechanism comprises at least one cylindrical brush having a plurality of second bristles disposed on a cylindrical surface such that one or more of the plurality of second bristles impinge upon the wire.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2017Date of Patent: August 18, 2020Assignee: Automated Industrial Machinery, Inc.Inventor: Konstantine Goudis

Patent number: 9908197Abstract: A wire butt welding apparatus includes at least two clamps, individual ones of the at least two clamps configured to hold a respective wire. The individual ones of the at least two clamps are positioned within the wire welder such that the ends of individual ones of the respective wires, when held by the respective clamps, will contact each other. One or more individual ones of the at least two clamps are associated with an adjustment axis about which the individual ones of the at least two clamps are configured to rotate. An adjustment mechanism is operatively coupled to fix one or more of the at least two clamps corresponding to the associated adjustment axis at an angular orientation with respect to a second clamp.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2014Date of Patent: March 6, 2018Assignee: Automated Industrial Machinery, Inc.Inventor: Tony Suto

Patent number: 9643234Abstract: A roller clamping apparatus is provided that includes a first jaw and a second jaw configured to move relative to each other between an open position and a closed position. The jaws include at least one drive roller supported by the first jaw and configured to rotate a round wire having a longitudinal axis. The apparatus further includes at least one support element supported by the second jaw. When the jaws are in a closed position, the drive roller and the support rollers tangentially contact an outside surface of the wire. The support element is positioned to make contact with the wire across the longitudinal axis of the wire when the wire is secured within the clamping apparatus. Mechanisms and methods that use the roller clamping apparatus are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2014Date of Patent: May 9, 2017Assignee: Automated Industrial Machinery, Inc.Inventor: Tony Suto

Publication number: 20140130567Abstract: Devices, systems and methods are disclosed which relate to a wire bending apparatus capable of both on and off-plane nose and mandrel bends. Exemplary embodiments of the present invention incorporate a center turret cluster with a plurality of radii possible, a nose-bending mandrel, and a mandrel-bending mandrel. This apparatus forms a bending head that is attached to a CNC wire bending machine. This combination allows increased flexibility in forming complex wire forms and cuts down secondary operations, such as operations from robot arms, sometimes associated with CNC wire bending. In addition, the turret cluster position in the center allows for bending support with mandrel bends or nose bending on the back side of the bending head, usually 180 degrees away from the normal bending area. This allows the manufacturing of double end-loop forms without the addition of external clamps or robotic manipulation.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 21, 2014Publication date: May 15, 2014Applicant: Automated Industrial Machinery, Inc., dba AIM, Inc.Inventors: Tom J. Publication number: 20120217709Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed which relate to a stake that is twisted into and out of the ground via an adaptor. The adaptor adapts the stake to a power drill, allowing the power drill to twist the stake into and out of the ground by activating the drill. The adaptor is designed to fit a standard drill chuck at one end. At the other end, the adaptor has a fitting to receive the stake. The fitting is such that the stake and adaptor are axially locked so that the stake and adaptor rotate in unison when the drill is activated. The stake is a wire designed in a coil shape with a pilot. The pilot is fit into the adaptor which axially locks the stake with the adaptor.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2011Publication date: August 30, 2012Applicant: Automated Industrial Machinery, Inc., dba AIM, Inc.Inventors: Tom J.
