  • Patent number: 8707532
Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing wires from a bale includes a conveyor system for moving one or more bales and a de-wiring station positioned adjacent the conveyor system. The de-wiring station includes a robot with an end tool. A bale that is bound by one or more wires is transferred by the conveyor system to a position proximate the de-wiring station. The robot with end tool moves to sense the location of the wires, cut the wires, collect the wires and deposit the wires in a collection hopper.

  • Patent number: 8584566
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically removing webbing remnants from unwound cores without damaging the surfaces or ends of the cores. The core cleaning apparatus includes a frame that carries an overhead bridge crane and a cutter frame supporting a movable cutting blade. The overhead crane includes a pair of opposed plugs designed to engage the open ends of the spent core. The cutter frame includes a cutter assembly that has automatically driven horizontally the length of the material webbing of the spent core, thereby cutting excess material webbing from the spent core. The entire operation is managed by a programmable controller without operator intervention.

  • Patent number: 8506736
Abstract: An automatic core joiner and cutter apparatus for use in the recycling of used cores and the manufacture of new conjoined cores is disclosed. The apparatus combines an infeed unit, a milling unit, and an outfeed unit, all controlled by a PC. The used core is milled by the infeed milling bit and the core remnant is milled by the outfeed milling bit. A glue applicator applies glue to at least one of the milled surfaces and the milled surfaces are mated together to produce a new conjoined core. The infeed cutting and milling operations and the outfeed cutting and milling operations are controlled by the controller and performed at the same time.

  • Patent number: 8376259
Abstract: This core plugging station relates generally to preparing rolls of previously wound material for an unwinding machine. The core plugging station improves the automation of moving rolls of sheet form material and the like to be loaded in preparation for unwinding. When a previously loaded roll has been unwound a spent core station disposes of the remaining core. The process sequentially moves rolls of material having cores from a core plugging station to an unwinding station and sequentially moves spent rolls of material from the unwinding station back to a spent core station.
