Patents Assigned to Automatic Parking Devices, Inc.
  • Patent number: 4213039
Abstract: A dynamic card reader adapted for use in reading information magnetically recorded on a card in two rows or tracks parallel to the longer dimension of the card. The information is read as the card is being inserted into the slot by two Hall effect sensors disposed in side-by-side relation at the entrance to the card slot. One row of magnet information generates a data signal and the other row generates a clock signal which is used to strobe the data signal into a shift register. The Hall sensors are connected to the detection circuitry through differentiating capacitors, such that the detection circuitry is responsive to transition of magnetic polarities as the card is inserted into the slot.

  • Patent number: 4088878
Abstract: A static reader for use with cards carrying indicia readable in the form of a binary code at preselected locations thereon. The reader includes sensors for reading binary coded indicia on a card, a circuit for decoding the card indicia and a plurality of individually selectable switches at the outputs of the decoder for selecting any number of card codes to provide a pulsed output signal.

  • Patent number: 3997044
Abstract: For use at a non-paying exit from a vehicle parking facility, an automatic ticket chute which accepts, validates, and stores unused parking tickets of a conventional type. A ticket inserted into a ticket throat by a vehicle operator is read by an optical reader and identified as a valid parking ticket. A pinch roller drive mechanism is then energized to feed the ticket to a ticket chute whence it is shuttled to a ticket storage area.

  • Patent number: 3997763
Abstract: A ticket reader and imprinter particularly suitable for use with previously dispensed parking tickets upon which information such as parking time and date is to be stamped. A limit switch is activated when a parking ticket is inserted by a vehicle operator into a throat of the imprinter, and an optical reader senses correct orientation and positioning of the ticket. The stamping solenoid of a conventional time recorder is then energized so that the desired time and date information is stamped upon the ticket, after which the ticket may be extracted from the imprinter by the vehicle operator. A swing-arm vehicle gate is activated when the ticket is stamped so that the vehicle operator may proceed into a parking zone.A method of parking a vehicle in a multiple-zone parking facility is also disclosed wherein entrance to and exit from all but one of the parking zones is had through another parking zone rather than from a vehicle highway.
