  • Patent number: 10549397
Abstract: A conveyor in a machine tool system is dynamically controlled. A volume of material to be conveyed by the conveyor is iteratively determined. During each iteration, a current position of a tool is determined. An intersection of a tool model representing the tool at the current position and a workpiece model representing a workpiece is determined and a nominal volume of material removed from the workpiece by the tool based on the intersection of the tool model and the workpiece model is determined. The volume of material to be conveyed is updated based on the nominal volume of material removed from the workpiece and an operating state of the conveyor. The operating state of the conveyor is controlled based on the updated volume of material to be conveyed.

  • Patent number: 10552115
Abstract: An audio/video (A/V) hub that calculates an estimated location is described. In particular, the A/V hub may calculate an estimated location of a listener relative to electronic devices (such as electronic devices that include speakers) in an environment that includes the A/V hub and the electronic devices based on: communication with another electronic device; sound measurements in the environment; and/or time-of-flight measurements. Then, the A/V hub may transmit, to the electronic devices, one or more frames that include audio content and playback timing information, which may specify playback times when the electronic devices are to playback the audio content based on the estimated location. Moreover, the playback times of the electronic devices may have a temporal relationship so that the playback of the audio content by the electronic devices is coordinated.

  • Patent number: 10547949
Abstract: A loudspeaker diaphragm (12) comprising a woven fibre body supports damping material (25), for example PVA polymer, on a rearward-facing surface (24). The woven fibre body may be formed of lengths (14) non-metallic fibre material (for example glass fibre) coating with a thin metal coating (32). The mass of the layer of damping material (25) may be less than the mass of the woven fibre body. An attractive sparkly looking loudspeaker diaphragm (12) may thus be provided which damps undesirable vibration whilst providing a flatter frequency-response curve (50).

  • Publication number: 20200024901
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed which acts to maintain a drillstring in dynamic friction during geo-steering operations when the drillstring is not rotating. Embodiments of the invention include a drilling system having a drillstring coupled to a top drive or a kelly, and a method of estimating a frictional torque along the drillstring to compute an oscillatory rotary input to the top drive or the kelly based on an input period or amplitude received at a human machine interface. A rotary control signal based on the oscillatory rotary input is transmitted to the top drive or the kelly via a variable-frequency drive (VFD) motor control system. The drillstring can be further coupled to a sensor and the feedback from the sensor can be monitored for proper operation to adjust the oscillatory rotary input during the geo-steering operations.

  • Patent number: 10531221
Abstract: An electronic device that performs automatic room filling is described. Based at least in part on information about an environment, which may include a second electronic device, the electronic device may determine a number of individuals in the environment. Then, based at least in part on the determined number of individuals, the electronic device may calculate an acoustic radiation pattern. For example, a width of a beam in the acoustic radiation pattern may be narrower when there is one individual in the environment, and the width of the beam may be wider when there is more than one individual in the environment. Next, the electronic device may provide audio content and second information specifying the acoustic radiation pattern for the second electronic device.

  • Patent number: 10521177
Abstract: A portable electronic device with a touch-sensitive display (such as a cellular telephone) provides a wireless remote control for an entertainment device (such as a consumer-electronic device). Based on device-state information that specifies a current state of the entertainment device (which is received from an audio/video (A/V) hub that communicates with the entertainment device) and one or more related states of the entertainment device, the portable electronic device may generate a user interface that includes one or more virtual command icons. Note that the one or more related states are related to the current state in a state diagram by corresponding operations that transition the entertainment device from the current state to the one or more related states. Then, the portable electronic displays the user interface on the touch-sensitive display. In this way, the portable electronic device dynamically adapts the user interface.

  • Publication number: 20190394603
Abstract: An electronic device that performs dynamic cross-talk cancellation is described. The electronic device may acquire information about an environment, which may include a second electronic device. Based at least in part on the information, the electronic device may determine locations of different individuals in the environment. Then, based at least in part on the locations, the electronic device may calculate an acoustic radiation pattern of a second electronic device. The acoustic radiation pattern may include a beam having a principal direction approximately directed towards the location of one individual, and an exclusion zone in which an intensity of output sound is reduced below a threshold value and that includes the location of another individual. Next, the electronic device may provide audio content and second information specifying the acoustic radiation pattern for the second electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20190388939
Abstract: A parts feeder which incorporates a position-controlled conveyor, a unique flex crowder system and destacker for promoting the singulation of parts on the conveyor, and a vision enabled reject mechanism to select and reject non-compliant parts. In this regard, parts to be sorted are lifted onto a conveyor and run past a series of adjustable crowder sections, including a flex crowder section, past a destacker element and into a singulation zone whereupon multiple camera images of both edges and features in conjunction with conveyor speed, conveyor position and laser triggering synchronize the parts to be rejected. The parts feeder incorporates adjustable settings thereby obviating the need to switch out components for the purpose of accommodating parts of various shapes and sizes.
