  • Patent number: 8264320
Abstract: An aftermarket keyless starter for a vehicle including a smart ignition system and an OEM security system is provided. The OEM security system includes an OEM transponder for user verification and an OEM reader for reading the OEM transponder when the OEM transponder is within a range R of the OEM reader. The OEM transponder stores an OEM identification code. The aftermarket keyless starter includes a secure box which is outside of the range R for isolating the OEM transponder from the OEM security system, an aftermarket reader, an aftermarket microcontroller, and an aftermarket transmitter. The aftermarket microcontroller is operable to receive the keyless start command and respond thereto by having the aftermarket reader read the OEM identification code and retransmitting the OEM identification code to the OEM reader. The engine start command is transmitted to the smart ignition system subsequent to the sending of the keyless start command.

Abstract: A user detection system for a vehicle has a security system including a portable transponder, a touch sensor, a control system in communication with the touch sensor and the security system. A method installs the user detection system in the vehicle. The touch sensor includes a sensor strip installed on the exterior surface proximate the handle and a coating for covering the sensor strip, the coating visibly matching the exterior surface. The control system is operable to transmit the identification signal in response to receiving the sensor contact signal. The control system is operable to transmit the disable command to the security system upon authentication of the reply. An aftermarket push-to-start system includes a steering lock disabling device.

Abstract: A system for preventing the unauthorized by-pass of an OEM security system including an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) starter for starting a vehicle, the vehicle having an engine and an ignition, an OEM security system responsive to an OEM security signal, an aftermarket by-pass kit for by-passing the OEM security system upon receipt of an aftermarket data signal which is distinct and separate from the OEM security signal, an aftermarket remote car starter device in communication with the by-pass kit for sending the aftermarket data signal to the by-pass kit to disable the OEM security system by causing the bypass kit to send the OEM security signal to the OEM security system and to start the engine, and a remote car starter transmitter in wireless communication with the remote car starter device.

Abstract: A system for preventing the unauthorized by-pass of an OEM security system is disclosed. The system includes an OEM starter for starting a vehicle; an OEM security system in communication with said starter; a by-pass kit for by-passing said OEM security system and enabling remote car starting of the vehicle without placing the key in the ignition; a remote car starter device in communication with the by-pass kit for sending a signal to the by-pass kit to start the engine; and a remote car starter transmitter in wireless communication with the remote car starter device. The signal that is sent to said by-pass kit is data, so that the by-pass kit is adapted to by-pass the OEM security system only upon receipt of the data signal. The improvement can be brought to both transponder-based bypass kits and microprocessor-based bypass kits.
