  • Patent number: 6415558
Abstract: A Storm Shelter which meets FEMA criteria and can be assembled from the inside, within an existing room of a house. The shelter includes connection members which are not joined to one another at their ends, and panels having C-shaped channel members which have apertures for bolting to the connection members and to each other. A reinforced door formed of a panel having C-shaped channels on its sides is mounted to swing inwardly whereby providing entry and exit.

  • Patent number: 6364060
Abstract: A low profile lift apparatus including a lift platform which accommodates manufactured product on a support surface thereof and elevationally lifts the manufactured product to a vertical level or elevation generally coplanar with an elevated surface on an adjacent pallet is disclosed. The low profile lift apparatus includes a base adapted to rest on a floor with the lift platform interconnected to the base for movement between raised and lowered positions. In a lowered position, a lower surface of the lift platform rests on the floor to provide the lift assembly with a low profile. The lift apparatus of the present invention further includes an apparatus for moving the platform relative to said base. Such apparatus preferably includes circuitry for selectively moving the lift platform in a controlled fashion relative to the base.

  • Patent number: 6286812
Abstract: A lifting apparatus which is readily portable between locations and whose design allows for readily replacement and/or repair of component parts thereof to enhance both serviceability and maintenance of the lifting apparatus is disclosed. The lifting apparatus includes a support table, a base frame disposed beneath the support table, a linkage assembly for maintaining the table and the base frame in generally parallel relation relative to each other as the table moves between raised and lowered positions, and a pneumatically operated actuator for moving the table between the raised and lowered positions. The base frame of the lifting apparatus defines at least one opening for allowing tines of a moving device to be inserted therethrough, thus, allowing the lifting apparatus of the present invention to be readily transported between locations.

  • Patent number: 4765792
Abstract: The leveler is positioned upon the flat top surface of the truck apron at some predetermined position in front of the dock. In the down position the surface cover plate of the leveler is parallel with the flat top surface of the truck apron. The lifting is provided by hydraulic cylinders secured to the leveler inwardly from the rear whereby avoiding interference with ancillary dock equipment. Thus, an aperture can be provided in the rear to accommodate a truck restraining device.

  • Patent number: 4531614
Abstract: A portable hydraulic service lift for elevating equipment such as industrial vehicles. The lift includes a base assembly including a platform which supports the elevated lift and allows the lift to be readily moved to a different location. A pair of rigid support legs extend upwardly from one end of the base platform and are spaced transversely to receive a portion of the equipment to be elevated therebetween. A pair of elongate lifting arms are joined in a cantilevered fashion to the support legs along the sides of the base platform. Rollers join the lifting arms to the adjacent support leg so that the arms can be raised and lowered in a cantilevered fashion while rolling along the support legs. Lifting bars extending transversely across the lifting arms are adapted to engage with the underside of the vehicle to be lifted. Power lifting mechanism are provided to raise and lower the arms and the vehicle supported on the lifting bars.

  • Patent number: 4488326
Abstract: An ambulatory power lift including a base and a movable lifting platform connected by a scissor lever assembly. Hydraulic power cylinders expand said scissor assembly in a manner which applies a substantially vertical lifting force to said platform. A modular power unit directs hydraulic fluid to said cylinders and allows the remote control of the lifting operation. A retractable bridge assembly on one end of the platform automatically raises as said lift is lowered, and a retractable wheel assembly allows the lift to be selectively transported in a lowered condition. A retractable guardrail closes at least one end of the lift platform. Safety means are also provided to prevent tampering with said power unit and to prevent entrapment between the platform and base.

  • Patent number: 3955797
Abstract: A platform positioned in a swimming pool has a slave hydraulic ram at each corner which raise and lower the platform. Each ram has a barrel attached to the platform and a piston rod which is supported on the bottom of the pool. There is a hydraulic motor for each slave ram. The hydraulic fluid in this system is water. Each hydraulic motor comprises a cylinder with a piston therein. Each time that the pistons of the motor cylinders are retracted make-up water flows into the system from a tank. The pistons of the motor cylinders are actuated in unison by a single main cylinder. The main cylinder is operated by hydraulic fluid from a hydraulic pump through a control valve.

  • Patent number: RE29542
Abstract: A dock lift has a platform connected at each side to a frame by a scissors apparatus. At one end, a pair of crossed hydraulic cylinders connect the platform and the frame. The hydraulic connections to the cylinders are made so that a load imposed on one side of the platform imposes a load on one cylinder which cylinder in turn causes fluid pressure to be applied to the other cylinder in the sense such that the other side of the platform is drawn downwardly to aid in maintaining the platform approximately level.
