  • Patent number: 4842319
Abstract: A deflector shield for a motor vehicle is characterized by having a molded, wrap-around shield assembly along the horizontal and vertical side edges of the hood portion directly behind the grille which is secured in place by elongated flexible, shock mounting strips at spaced intervals along the horizontal edge and vertical sides of the hood portion, and a molded wrap-around cover plate in overlapping relation to the horizontal edge and opposite vertical side edges of the shield; and molded guard members are dispoed in overlying relation to a surrounding portion of the front grille of the vehicle together with front fender guard members which conform to and are disposed in overlying relation to the front fender and headlight portions of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4750549
Abstract: A radiator grille cover for motor vehicles comprises a base panel composed of a flexible material and has suitable fasteners on the base panel for releasable connection to the radiator grille of a motor vehicle. The base panel has a centrally located air-receiving opening with one or more additional panels superimposed thereon which are sized to at least partially cover the opening in the base panel. The additional panels are in the form of flexible flaps with a center opening of a different size, the opening being symmetrical with respect to air passage through the radiator grille and having fasteners for releasably fastening the additional panels to the base panel. One or more of the flaps may be released from a position overlying the center opening of the base panel and inserted into a storage pocket on the front thereof so as not to require complete removal from the grille.

  • Patent number: 4627657
Abstract: A deflector shield for trucks and other vehicles is releasably connected to upper and side edges of the truck's radiator grille. The deflector comprises a shield mounted on a base and the base has a pair of lateral flexible frames for attachment along the grille's upper edge, each frame extending away from the grille's center toward its side edges. An inclined channel is formed at the juncture of the concave front wall and inclined rear wall of the frame for receiving the elongated transparent shield therein and the entire base portion of the deflector shield can be secured to the radiator grille by means of screws or the like.

  • Patent number: 4471991
Abstract: An interchangeable frame mounting system is incorporated into an articulated deflector shield assembly for releasable, rigid connection to the hood or radiator grille of a vehicle. The assembly includes a pair of complementary halves each having an elongated C-shaped channel or flange and a rearwardly directed open slot along the length with mating edge portions at adjacent ends of the halves adapted to abut one another. A splice is releasably inserted in the open slots for interconnecting the halves of the frame together. A plurality of brackets at uniformly spaced intervals along each channel includes a leg portion alignable with the slot of the flange and a second leg extends at an angle to the first leg and conforms to the angle of the return portion together with first and second fasteners for releasably interconnecting the first and second legs to the flange and hood, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4236592
Abstract: A structure for protecting front surfaces of moving vehicles from insects and debris and modulating air flow through the vehicle radiator to control cooling efficiency, including an air deflector mounted on the leading edge of the vehicle to deflect air, airborne insects and debris upward and over the windshield, and, a detachable cover depending from the deflector to preclude insects and debris from entering the radiator, the detachable cover being either a non-perforated curtain to limit and control air flow through the vehicle radiator during cold weather operation, or a screen to provide full air flow during warm weather.
