  • Patent number: 9749026
Abstract: In a base station having a Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (M-MIMO) antenna array, the availability of the M-MIMO antenna array is exploited to manage the interference caused by the base station to neighboring cells. In one embodiment, the large number of antenna elements of the M-MIMO antenna array are used to create precise transmit and/or receive spatial nulls at specific User Equipments (UEs) being served by a neighboring cell and/or in select areas of the neighboring cell. Depending on whether the spatial null is partial or full, transmissions by the base station may have reduced or even zero receive power within the neighboring cell.

  • Publication number: 20170242131
Abstract: A device is disclosed that is capable of determining its location using high-power with high accuracy, and using low-power with lower accuracy. By coordinating usage between the high power method and the low power, overall power consumption of the device can be significantly reduced without a significant reduction in accuracy. Such high accuracy may be achieved through the use of a GNSS unit, such a GPS receiver. In addition, the low-power alternative may be achieved using an accelerometer, together with software, hardware or firmware for extrapolating a speed based on the force measurements by the accelerometer. In this manner, the GPS receiver can be operated for only a fraction of overall use, primarily to provide adjustment data necessary to calibrate usage of the accelerometer.

  • Patent number: 9742622
Abstract: The subject system allows network devices utilizing any number of networking technologies (including to-be-developed technologies) to access a common abstraction layer and/or the network operations facilitated by a common abstraction layer. The subject system allows a device that is added to a network to communicate whether existing devices on the network should retrieve communication protocol information for facilitating communication with the added device from a remote server. For example, the devices may locally store communication protocol information for certain network technologies, e.g. legacy network technologies, while information corresponding to other network technologies may not be locally stored. The added device may provide a resource locator to the existing devices for accessing the communication protocol information from the remote server.

  • Patent number: 9742701
Abstract: An apparatus for operating a low data-rate (LDR) link and legacy switch at a high data-rate (HDR) includes a first block and a second block. The first block receives input signals from the legacy switch and generates identical output signals. The second block receives the identical output signals and generates an HDR signal for communication over the LDR link coupled to an access point. Further, a media access control (MAC) interface communicates data at a first data rate with an Ethernet PHY block including a first-in-first-out (FIFO) module and a buffer. The FIFO receives data from the MAC interface at the first data rate and transmits data at a second data rate. The buffer receives data from the Ethernet port at the second data rate and transmits the received data at the first data rate in response to detection of an end of packet.

  • Patent number: 9742444
Abstract: A broadband digital transmitter is disclosed. The digital transmitter includes a vector decomposer circuit, a phase selector circuit, and a digital power amplifier (DPA). The vector decomposer circuit receives baseband in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) signals and decomposes the baseband I and Q signals into an offset envelope signal and a non-offset envelope signal. The phase selector circuit receives a plurality of phase offset local oscillator (LO) signals and outputs, responsive to the baseband I and Q signals, offset LO signals and non-offset LO signals. The DPA processes the offset envelope signal, the non-offset envelope signal, the offset LO signals, and the non-offset LO signals to generate an output signal of the digital transmitter.

  • Patent number: 9733441
Abstract: A heat dissipation system for an optical communications module is provided that includes a heat dissipation clamp having a plurality of force-application devices for applying respective, precisely-controlled forces to respective optical communications modules of an array to maintain electrical interconnectivity between the modules of the array and respective electrical sockets. The force-application devices are independent of one another such that the respective electrical interconnectivity forces applied to the respective modules are independent of one another. This independence ensures that the proper amount of electrical interconnectivity force is applied to each module of the array, which ensures that the planarity of the system PCB is maintained without the need for a backing, or bolstering, plate. Inner walls of the heat dissipation clamp are in contact with the modules so that heat generated by the modules is transferred into the heat dissipation clamp where some or all of the heat is dissipated.
