Patents Assigned to Avery International Corporation
  • Patent number: 4130042
Abstract: A die-cutter assembly including a die-cutting roll and an anvil roll between which a web of material is passed for die-cutting of labels. Spacing between the rolls is controlled by a pair of bearings at each end of one of the rolls, each pair including an inner bearing in which the roll is journaled and an outer bearing which is in rolling contact with the die-cutting roll. A rotatable eccentric spacer between the inner and outer bearings provides an adjustment of the spacing between the axis of the cutting roll and the axis of the anvil roll.

  • Patent number: 4111205
Abstract: A web construction of diaper tab stock is provided for separation into diaper tabs of the refastenable type wherein a minor part of the tab transfers from one part of the diaper to another incident to the first cycle of fastening and unfastening. The release-coated substrate face which substitutes for a liner does not stay with the main part of the tab structure during such cycle but instead transfers with the minor part of the tab structure. The diaper tab stock is suited to low cost production and to high speed dispensing on automatic equipment by diaper manufacturers.

  • Patent number: 4110152
Abstract: An embossing roller has protruding lands extending radially outward from the surface of the roller to provide corresponding indentations in a thermoplastic surface to which the roller may be applied. A layer of resilient material underlies the lands so that when the roller is rolled over an irregular surface, individual lands, or groups of lands, may be depressed different amounts so that embossing indentations are formed in all portions of the surface. By applying adequate pressure to the roller, all of the lands are depressed at their points of contact when in contact with the surface if the surface is flat and regular. The lands are forced by action of the resilient material into contact with the bottom of any slight concavity in the surface and adapt to any slight convexity. In some embodiments, lands protrude outwardly from metal rings which encircle the roller. In other embodiments, lands are supported directly by the resilient material.

  • Patent number: 4097627
Abstract: Diaper tab stock comprises a unitary substrate extending, transversely to machine direction, along first and second endward length portions separated by a third intermediate length portion, with adhesive on its topside at the first endward length portion, on its bottom side at the second endward length portion, and on neither side at the third intermediate length portion which separates the other two. A release coating on the bottom side of the first length portion extends partly onto the intermediate third length portion but stops short of the second length portion. In a preferred method of manufacture and use, a release coating on the top side of the second length portion serves as a releasing support both for the adhesive which ends up on the bottom side of the second length portion and then for the adhesive on the first length portion when the first length portion is folded onto the second length portion.

  • Patent number: 4050121
Abstract: A linerless diaper tab is formed of a single substrate which can be folded and refolded on itself in such a way as to (1) grip both sides of one part of a diaper adjacent an edge thereof and (2) provide linerless protected storage of an adhesive surface which is exposable for adherence to another part of the diaper, and (3) provide a resultant high-strength Y-configuration fastening between the two parts of the diaper.

  • Patent number: 4039705
Abstract: There are provided curable anaerobic pressure sensitive adhesive stocks in the form of sheets and tapes in which the adhesive is contained between two differential release surfaces. This construction permits total pressure sensitive adhesive transfer to a substrate which is to be firmly secured to another substrate upon the exclusion of oxygen and initiation of cure of the anaerobic resin. The compositions are those, based on the total weight of the composition, containing from about 4 to about 40 percent by weight of a first anaerobic resin having a viscosity up to about 1000 cps at 25.degree. C from 0 to about 80 percent by weight of a second anaerobic resin having a viscosity greater than about 1000 cps at 25.degree. C, from about 9 to 95 percent by weight of a thermoplastic resin system, from 0 to about 10 percent of a latent accelerator and about 0.1 to about 10 percent of a hydroperoxide catalyst, the composition having static shear at 0.25 in.sup.

  • Patent number: 4027590
Abstract: A label, ticket and tag printing and dispensing machine with readily detachable and attachable interchangeable tape supply and feeding magazines, for the optional and selective use of any one of several alternative pre-adjusted tape-feeding magazines, each loaded with a roll of a different size or kind of labels, tickets or tags, thereby to provide maximum and ready variability and range of tape-supply; with each of the several alternative magazines being individually pre-adjusted for the length and width and other characteristics of the label, ticket or tag and in relation to location of the print-impression of the printer. Each magazine holds a roll of labels, tickets or tags and includes a self-contained tape-feeder for intermittently feeding the tape from the roll in the magazine in label, ticket or tag lengths in timed relation to the printing sequence of the printer portion. The printer portion includes a tape-feeder cam or several alternative tape-feeder cams.

  • Patent number: 4020842
Abstract: A web construction of reclosable tab stock, particularly suited to low cost production and to high speed dispensing on automatic equipment by diaper manufacturers, but usable in other applications, has three substrates, one over the other, and each of which extends, transversely to machine direction and along its entire transverse length, substantially flatly and without folds.
