  • Patent number: 6007539
Abstract: Fastening nail which is made of bioresorbable plastic material and is for the fixing of a covering membrane to an endogenous bone surrounding a bone void filled with bone replacement material, has a nail head of a larger diameter, enabling impact with a pressure and/or striking tool, and has, connected thereto, a nail shaft of a smaller diameter, which comprises an essentially cylindrical holder part and, connected thereto, a tip part with a jacket cone surface tapering in the direction towards the nail tip, the plastic material is at least partially non-crystalline (amorphous) and has a glass transition temperature in the region of body temperature, and the plastic material in the region of the nail shaft comprises a preferred molecular orientation that runs essentially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the fastening nail.

  • Patent number: 5921456
Abstract: A setting tool for nails comprises a hollow cylindrical grip sleeve open at both ends with a first hollow section connected by a through-opening to a second hollow section, a ram being disposed in the first hollow section and having one end with an arrangement for releasably holding a nail extending from a first end of the grip sleeve, a pin being disposed in the first hollow section between the ram and the through-opening, the pin having a first segment connected by a centering section to a second segment which extends through the through-opening, a coupling member having a blind bore of the diameter of the second segment being disposed in the second hollow section, with the blind bore facing the pin and being urged toward the pin by a compression spring disposed in the second hollow section entrapped between the coupling member and an adjustable device.

  • Patent number: 5549677
Abstract: An implant has an implant member which is implantable in a bone material and has an axial threaded bore at one end which receives a threaded element which may be an implant post, an implant extension or a post for attachment by means of a screw connection. The threaded element has a head with a diameter greater than an outer diameter of the implant member adjacent the one end and the head has a pressing surface extending substantially at right angles to the axis of the implant member and beyond the outer diameter of the implant member. The head also has a circular recess between the pressing surface and the outer threads of the threaded element, which recess will receive an edge of the one end of the implant member when the threaded element is received in the threaded bore to prevent body tissue from growing into any slit or crevice between the implant member and the threaded element.

  • Patent number: 5544552
Abstract: A fastening nail for fixing a cover membrane to a bone void which surrounds the bone of the body itself and is filled with an ossiferous material has a nail head with a larger diameter which enables receiving pressure of an impact tool for inserting a nail shaft with a smaller diameter into the bone. The nail shaft has essentially a cylindrical holding part extending to a conical tapering point part adjacent one end and is provided with a transition region between the holding part and point part having an annular shoulder with an enlarged diameter which has a conical surface merging obliquely with the generated surface of the point part in a direction toward the point of the nail and an annular surface extending substantially perpendicular relative to the holding axis of the nail. To insert the nail, the setting tool is elongated and has resilient jaws for gripping the nail and is used in combination with an auxiliary tool which has a foot with downwardly extending points for holding the membrane on the bone.

  • Patent number: 5443483
Abstract: An appliance for temporarily covering a bone surgery site, such as a recess in a bone filled with bone-building material, such as hydroxylapatite granules, for promoting post-surgery healing includes a flexible sleeve adapted to wrapped around the bone, which carries a covering membrane on one side thereof facing the bone and which carries a reinforcing ply on a side facing away from the bone. The sleeve has two free closure edges, which can be firmly attached to each other with connecting elements which engage into the reinforcing ply, so as to hold the appliance wrapped around the bone.
