  • Patent number: 6079262
Abstract: The energy of the sound radiation caused by the impact of the coin to be analyzed upon a hard surface is split into different frequency bands, the energy of every such band is obtained and the ratios between them are then worked out, obtaining parameters that are then compared against values representing valid coins. The device includes a bank of filters (6, 7 and 8), integrators (9, 10 and 11) connected to the outlet of the filters and capable of being activated from a microprocessor (17) and an analogue-digital converter to which the output of the various integrators is then connected through a multiplexer.

  • Patent number: 5808466
Abstract: A process for characterization of magnetic materials for validating documents carrying marks which include magnetic materials is based on an analysis of signals supplied by an oscillator generating a low frequency signal supplying emitter windings and receiver windings that have different conformations. The receiver windings (A) and (B) are joined to an amplifier that has two outputs (S1) and (S2), output (S2) yielding, upon conformation, a signal (X) that is used as a time reference, and output (S1) yielding, after various transformations, two signals (Y) and (Z), each of which is entered into a microprocessor which, together with valid magnetic marker data, generate signals accepting or rejecting the document.

  • Patent number: 5445296
Abstract: An automatic dispensing machine has a fixed column structure. Just above a gearmotor, a lever supports a rotating platform. The rotating platform, in turn, supports a pile of packets to be dispensed, so that when a cam is retracted, the lever swings down and allows the platform to freely rotate and, hence, unload the packet supported on the platform. The penultimate packet, and other packets in the pile, are held, during unloading, by a rotating grip that is projected towards the penultimate packet by a pair of springs. A cam is located at the top end of the camshaft and is rotated to release, in due course, the pile of packets and allow the same to move down to lie on the bottom platform.

  • Patent number: 5444526
Abstract: A system is used to validate bottle caps, or top crowns, having particular reflectivity characteristics in plastic covering their undersides and in an alloy from which they are made. This permits the top crowns belonging in a particular promotion to be different, in these respects, from the rest of the top crowns on the market. Validation is carried out with the assistance of an identifying mechanism having an optical sensor and an inductive sensor in front of which the top crowns move while being carried by a conveyor belt or band when inserted in the identifying mechanism. The optical sensor works together with a generator of light having a given wavelength that is reflected by the underside of the cap or top. Thereafter, the light reaches the optical sensor. Signals generated by the optical and inductive sensors, upon the passage of the top crown, are duly processed and compared with the preset valid values in a suitable program.

  • Patent number: 5386901
Abstract: Coin selector, which defines a route or path for the coins, along which are fitted optical and electromagnetic sensors and at least one rocker arm located towards the entrance to that route or path which is responsible for directing the coins towards the correct path. The selector also includes a mobile permanent magnet and a fixed magnetic relay close to that magnet, the magnet being fitted to the rocker arm and located towards the entrance to the path for the coins. The displacement of the rocker arm pulls the magnet, varying the action of the magnet's magnetic field on the relay. The relay is connected to a power supply circuit for the sensor, which is activated when a coin is introduced.

  • Patent number: 5368149
Abstract: Procedure for verifying coins in which an analog electrical signal is generated when a coin passes in front of a sensor. This signal is subjected to analog-digital conversion. In a first filtration step, each of the measured digital values (D.sub.n) obtained in this manner is compared with at least one value (S.sub.1 to S.sub.n) stored in a memory. In the event of predetermined conditions being met or not being met, the average digital value (D.sub.n) is either stored or eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5351799
Abstract: A temporary automatic machine coin store includes a gear-tooth belt disposed between two tooth-gear blocks, namely, a driving tooth-gear block and a return tooth-gear block. A plurality of blades are attached to one belt. The width of the blades is equal to the maximal diameter of the coin to be inserted. The coin store assembly is disposed inside a vertically elongate housing. The tooth-gear blocks are vertically aligned. The upper end of the housing has a window for the coins to enter. The coins drop one by one upon the dihedral defined by each pair of blades which occupy at that time the upper end position within the device.

  • Patent number: 5322153
Abstract: Procedure for detecting the operation of the coin return mechanism in coin selectors, especially in selectors having a passage through which the coins pass, which can be opened for the recovery thereof, and having at least one coin passage detector, the operating conditions of which are sensitive to the passage of the coins and to the opening of the passage. The procedure consists of detecting the alterations in the operating conditions of the said detector caused by the opening of the channel. These alterations result in changes of amplitude and frequency which are measured, for example, by the microprocessor of the selector, and differentiated from the alterations due to the passage of a coin.

  • Patent number: 5316118
Abstract: A device and procedure for obtaining the mechanical characteristics of coins includes an element onto which coins pass which element is elastically deformable under the weight of the coins. This elastically deformable element has sensors to detect an electric signal corresponding to the deformation of the element from which can be obtained the inherent mechanical characteristics sought after in the coin. From the signals produced by the coin rolling along the aforementioned element, which can be in the form of a beam, the device uses frequency analysis to determine a parameter which is representative of the mechanical elasticity of the coin. This parameter is then compared to various stored data to determine whether or not the coin is authentic.

  • Patent number: 4893706
Abstract: A mechanism for the reception and collection of coins in coin-operated machines includes a frame that can be moved along guides, located immediately beneath the coin selector or entry, which frame is divided into a series of identical vertical chambers, open at the top and bottom and on one of their transverse walls, with apertured plates for opening and closing the bottom and the side wall. The mechanism can be moved along the guides so that the open tops of the chambers are successively positioned under the exit of the selector. The mechanism for driving the frame, as well as the mechanism that drives gates that open and close the chambers, are controllable by a microprocessor, based on the information provided concerning the chamber in which each coin is located and the position of the frame at any given moment, which is provided by a decoder that is part of the frame and a reader that is stationary with respect to the frame.

  • Patent number: 4860877
Abstract: A coin sorter for coin-operated machines including a frame subdivided on the interior into vertical passages for coins, the upper ends of which open out through apertures in a transversely aligned position, and the lower ends of which open out through apertures in two axially shifted positions. The frame is mounted so as to be able to pivot about a medium axis parallel to and near the bottom and is connected to a mechanism that causes the partial tilting of said frame toward one side or the other, moving the upper opening of the passages sideways. The passages can have openings through a smaller wall, in which case gates permit the selective closing of any of the openings.
