Patent number: 4472182Abstract: In an apparatus for separating suspended particles, such as ash, from stack gas, consisting of a coarse separator, a take-up container for particles removed from suspension in the coarse separator, a fines separator for the partially-cleaned gas output of the coarse separator, and a stack for the cleaned gas output of the fines separator, a new arrangement is disclosed for maintaining the temperature of the dirty stack gas within the apparatus above its dew point so as to prevent the deposition of soot (sooting-up), such arrangement being the construction of the apparatus in such a way that the coarse separator, the fines separator and the outlet stack form an integral structural unit which sits upon the take-up container, which is supported by feet set upon a foundation. In such arrangement, the heat of the hot, suspended ashes deposited in the take-up container is transferred to the take-up container, and thence, to the elements of the integral structural unit.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1982Date of Patent: September 18, 1984Assignee: AZO-Maschinenfabrik Adolf Zimmermann GmbHInventors: Adolf Zimmermann, Otmar Link

Patent number: 4453473Abstract: An apparatus for supplying stationary small- to medium-sized heating plant with flowable solid fuel such as coal dust or coal breeze has a vacuum conveyor running from a fuel storage container of the apparatus to the heating plant for transporting the fuel from the container to the boiler. The blower of the conveyor has an aspiration port joined up with the container. The container has flexible walls of textile material and has an air blow-off line and a filter sheet for separating the coal dust from any coal dust-air mixture produced. This design makes it possible for the heating plant to be run automatically with the least leakage of dust and volatile substances out into the air.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1983Date of Patent: June 12, 1984Assignee: Azo-Maschinenfabrik Adolf Zimmermann GmbHInventor: Otmar Link

Patent number: 4200414Abstract: In apparatus for dosaging bulk material in a pneumatic conveying stream the dosaging is effected by means of an apertured disc having an annular array of through holes of small diameter which, as the disc rotates about an axis, transfer discrete quantities of bulk material from a column thereof in a supply container to a pneumatic conveying conduit through which the apertured portion of the disc passes between sealing rings which act as stripping elements. The disc is located coaxially within the supply container and driven by a motor whose speed is adjustable to allow the dosaging quantity to be varied. The conveying conduit is taken through the supply container and interrupted at the position of the apertured disc where the conduit is provided with the sealing elements. The bulk material is fluidized by air drawn in through the bottom of the container and extracted through the top by means of a fan which supplies the conveying air to the conduit.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 1978Date of Patent: April 29, 1980Assignee: AZO-Maschinenfabrik Adolf Zimmermann GmbHInventor: Otmar Link

Patent number: 4114324Abstract: A silo for bulk materials has a rigid base and a fluidizing means which comprises an air-pervious mesh floor arranged above the rigid base, a support surface means holding the said floor in spaced relation relatively to the rigid base and at least one compressed air supply duct opening into the intermediate space between the rigid base and the mesh floor, the support surface means being formed by a wire gauze placed on the rigid base. The wire mesh may be annular and may be in sector-shape portions with a radially extending packing or seal arranged between each of the separate sectors and a compressed air supply duct associated with each sector. A helical wire mesh is particularly described and illustrated, with tube sections arranged as seals on the terminal wire helices.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 1977Date of Patent: September 19, 1978Assignee: AZO-Maschinenfabrik Adolf ZimmermannInventors: Otmar Link, Gerhard Nied

Patent number: 4095776Abstract: In a suction conveying installation in which different bulk materials are conveyed from respective supply containers to a separator which may serve as a weighing container, the separator is adapted to serve as a mixer and comprises at the bottom at least one ventilation valve to be opened after the end of the separating or weighing operation while the suction fan of the installation is still running, so that air is drawn into the container from the bottom to entrain and mix the materials. Constructional details of the separator including various valve arrangements are described, also certain control arrangements including a pressure monitoring device downstream of the separator.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1976Date of Patent: June 20, 1978Assignee: AZO-Maschinenfabrik Adolf ZimmermannInventors: Rudi Baumann, Otmar Link, Gerhard Nied

Patent number: 4087134Abstract: Milk powder, or similar powder which is liable to smear when under mechanical stress, is conveyed in sucessive plugs or batches in a suction flow which is interrupted at intervals according to the batch size. In apparatus for this purpose, an interval-controlled valve is provided in a suction conveying conduit which is connected via an inlet chamber to the outlet of a container for the powder. The container may have at its outlet a loosening floor operable with pulses of compressed air controlled synchronously with said interval-controlled valve.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1976Date of Patent: May 2, 1978Assignee: AZO-Maschinenfabrik Adolf ZimmermannInventors: Walter Jordan, Willi Konrath

Patent number: 3989308Abstract: In apparatus for weighing powdered material conveyed by suction from two or more supply containers to a single weighing and separating container via individual conduits with respective shutoff valves, the said valves are directly adjacent one another near the weighing container and in a common block to which are connected the said individual conduits and a common outlet conduit leading to the weighing container. For controlling the dosaging, an air supply valve and a secondary air valve may be provided on the valve block upstream of the shutoff valves. The respective valves may be driven by compressed-air cylinders controlled by switches associated with the weighing balance.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1974Date of Patent: November 2, 1976Assignee: AZO-Maschinenfabrik Adolf ZimmermannInventors: Adolf Zimmermann, Otmar Link, Josef Theierl

Patent number: 3979107Abstract: A coarse-particle plastics granulate is colored by being dosed and mixed with a fine-powder pigment by means of a dosaging screw and, if necessary, an after-mixer at the discharge end of said screw. A coarse-particle "cleaning material" is supplied to the dosaging screw upstream of the pigment to prevent sticking and caking of the fine powder and to achieve uniform distribution of the color in the granulate. A proportion of the granulate itself may be introduced as the cleaning material. The dosaging screw is mounted so as to be readily replaceable by a clean one. It may be formed with two sections of different diameter so that the entry volume at the cleaning material inlet is smaller than at the pigment inlet. The dosaging screw is normally driven in time with a plastics processing machine using the colored granulate, but may be adapted to operate discontinuously when only a small amount of color is required or when the machine output is small.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1973Date of Patent: September 7, 1976Assignee: AZO-Maschinenfabrik Adolf ZimmermannInventor: Adolf Lesk

Patent number: 3963608Abstract: An apparatus for the treatment of synthetic resin powder, such as an epoxy resin or polyester resin powder that forms an excess of powder when used for coating surfaces. The apparatus has a substantially horizontal and cylindrical screen mounted in a housing with an outside discharge for material passing through the screen from its interior and a rotor for rotating inside the screen. The rotor comprises at least two bars spaced and generally parallel with the inside of the screen and is rotatable in the housing on the bearings which are open towards the screen and are connected to a supply of fluid under pressure.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1974Date of Patent: June 15, 1976Assignee: AZO-Maschinenfabrik Adolf ZimmermannInventors: Adolf Zimmermann, Adolf Lesk, Walter Jordan, Rudi Baumann
