  • Patent number: 9737700
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a valve structure that is hermetically sealed to a lower flange formed on an IV bag to form a one-way outlet accessible with a luer tip syringe that does not have a needle. The valve structure can include a piston in combination with a disc or disc valve. The piston can have a slit septum or opening allowing access to an interior surface of the piston. The disc valve is typically in a closed position that prevents injections or other incursions into the bag, thus preserving the integrity and sterility of the bag contents.

  • Patent number: 9695953
Abstract: Needleless access port valves are generally discussed herein with particular discussions extended to needleless access port valves incorporating a piston comprising slit along an upper piston section for accommodating fluid flow. The slit opens when the piston is compressed by a medical implement, such as a syringe tip, to permit fluid communication between the inlet and the outlet of the vale housing. The slit may be cut using high frequency cutting machine or a multi-axis robot arm and a cutting blade.

  • Publication number: 20160206469
Abstract: The purpose of the invention is to create a urine bag that can be easily folded in order to occupy less space prior to use and that can be easily manipulated by a patient, in particular a paraplegic patient. This is achieved using a urine collection bag (1) formed by two sheets of plastic material that are stacked and welded along the periphery (2) thereof. The collection bag (1) comprises a collection compartment (3), said inlet being in communication with the intake port (4) and delimiting the upper portion of the collection compartment (3). The intake port (4) is provided with a vertical extension (8) closed along their periphery (22) thereof and comprising a urinary c catheter (9). The bag (1) of the invention is characterised in that the in-take port (4) and the inlet (6) are offset vertically, and in that the vertical height (ho) of the bag (1) corresponds to a multiple of the height (hp) of the extension (8).

  • Patent number: 9320859
Abstract: A cap assembly for a self-priming IV set valve includes a body portion that is configured to be removably connected to the IV set valve; a hydrophobic filter that is mounted to the body portion; and an actuator having a free end that is configured to either puncture, move or displace a valve element of the IV set valve. A fluid passageway is disposed either in or along the actuator. When the cap assembly is mounted to the IV set valve, the actuator either punctures, moves or displaces the valve element of the IV set valve such that air and liquid within the IV set valve can flow through the fluid passageway and onto the hydrophobic filter, whereupon the hydrophobic filter of the cap assembly prevents the passage of liquid through the hydrophobic filter while the hydrophobic filter permits the passage of air there-through and into the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 9320860
Abstract: A connector of a self-priming IV set valve including a connector body having a hollow region, and a valve element that is at least partially positioned in the hollow region that is configured to be moved, displaced or punctured by a cap that is releasably connectable to the connector body. When the cap is mounted to the connector, the cap either punctures or moves the valve element and a passageway is formed in the connector such that air and liquid are permitted to pass through the connector and into the cap. When the cap is not mounted to the connector, the valve element of the connector is configured to open under pressure to permit the passage of liquid through the connector and close when pressure ceases.
