  • Patent number: 5035079
Abstract: A vegetation barrier incorporating a base member, and upstanding leg, said base member extending to one or both sides of the upstanding leg, to fit underneath of a fence, at its lower end, and be affixed thereto, each barrier having a slot extending inwardly a fixed distance from one end between the upstanding leg and its base member, and temperature compensation structure designed into the barrier including either a series of apertures, arranged above the formed slot, and providing a means of stopping the extent of insertion of the next adjacent barrier therein, so as to provide additional clearance within the slot for expansion, by insertion of a stop within a temperature identified slot to limit the extent of insertion of the next adjacent barrier therein, or the temperature compensation means may include forming the barrier, either along its upstanding leg, or base member, or both, of a corrugated texture.

  • Patent number: 4903947
Abstract: A length of integral fence or other building structure associated vegetation barrier, for use for eliminating the growth of grass or weeds, the barrier includes a base member, being of arcuate design, and in two embodiments having an upstanding leg, either centrally or laterally formed thereat, which leg is connected by a living hinge to the base member, the upstanding leg has apertures therethrough for accommodating the connection of a tie device for securing the barrier to the fence, and additional apertures to provide for drainage of moisture therethrough; the barrier may be formed of various polymer chemistry, and may include an ultra-violet light inhibitor, to sustain its life. The various lengths of barriers are interconnectable together, to provide continuous length for the installed barrier, with the base member having provision for insertion of spikes, for securing the barrier to the ground.

  • Patent number: 4515349
Abstract: An integral fence associated vegetation barrier for eliminating growth of grass, or the like, and having a base member, an integrally and upwardly extending leg arranged approximately centrally, or slightly off center thereof, projecting up a sufficient distance to allow for its tying to the bottom of any fence, incorporating a series of apertures therein to facilitate the tying of the barrier to the bottom of the fence, and also having a plurality of spacially arranged drainage openings to facilitate the flow of rain or water therethrough; the formed barrier, constructed of a polymer, rubber, or the like, may have its upstanding leg folded over into adjacency with its base member, to ease its rolling into the roll form, as for storage, transit, or merchandising.
