  • Patent number: 5718173
Abstract: A stamping apparatus for a heat requiring ink is described wherein a stamping head is moved between an ink wetting position and an object stamping position. A stamping pad is located in a heated housing wherein a replaceable stamping pad is mounted on a rotatable spindle and wherein a metal heated casing at least partially surrounds the stamping pad to heat the ink on the stamping pad to a workable temperature. The stamping head normally is resting against the heated stamping pad to also receive heat from the metal casing and thus be able to transfer ink from the head seated against the pad to the object to be stamped. Heat from the heater in the metal casing is also transfered to a chamber where a reserve stamping pad can be stored to be preheated and thus ready for instant use when needed. A resilient pin is employed to move the rotatable stamping pad as the stamping head leaves its wetting position for stamping of an object.

  • Patent number: 4570537
Abstract: A printing apparatus for applying a coding on a surface which is transported past the printing apparatus, comprising a text roll for the coding characters, supported by a frame and rotatably mounted on a shaft. Said text roll is drivable by the passing surface. The printing apparatus further comprises a rotatable inking means for inking the coding characters. The text roll is movable backwards and forwards in radial direction, wherein a driving means is provided for rotating the text roll and moving the text roll in radial direction from a rest position, in which the text roll is completely free of the surface to be coded, to a working position, in which the text roll engages the surface to be coded, when a surface to be coded comes up to the text roll. The driving means is adapted to return the text roll in radial direction and to rotate the text roll to the rest position from an end position reached by the coding operation after applying the coding.

  • Patent number: 4004511
Abstract: An apparatus for applying markings to packed articles transported by a conveyor is provided with a stamp, which is laterally expulsed when an article passes by. The stamp comprises a holder and a printing head connected with the holder by at least one spring. The lateral movement of the holder is interrupted by an abutment in the driving mechanism before the printing head reaches the article, after which the printing head is shot out by the kinetic energy so as to hit the article. The printing head engages an ink pad in the intervals between successive printing operations. The ink pad is attached to the bottom of an ink container by means of a bearing ring and is made of a hard porous material. The printing head is provided with a resilient ring tightly engaging the edge of the bearing ring when the printing head lies against the ink pad. Thus, a suction occurs when the printing head leaves the ink pad, whereby the ink is drawn into the ink pad from the container.
