  • Patent number: 7873813
Abstract: A computer system with a processing unit and a memory. The processing unit is arranged to fetch memory lines from the memory and execute instructions from the memory lines. Each memory line is fetched as a whole and is capable of holding more than one instruction. An instruction comprises information that signals explicitly how the processing unit, when processing the instruction from a current memory line, should control how a part of processing is affected by crossing of a boundary to a subsequent memory line. The processing unit responds to the information by controlling said part as signaled by the information.

  • Patent number: 7872836
Abstract: In a disk drive device in which low-density gas is sealed, embodiments of the present invention help to improve joint reliability at a solder joint section between a feedthrough and an enclosure with respect to stress applied by deformation due to changes in temperature environment in use. According to one embodiment, helium gas is sealed in an interior space of an HDD. A feedthrough is solder jointed to a feedthrough mounting surface of a base. At a part with relatively large thermal stress, a width of the feedthrough mounting surface is increased, and at a part with relatively small thermal stress, a width of the feedthrough mounting surface is decreased. This prevents a crack penetrating path from being generated at the solder joint section due to the thermal stress and prevents the solder joint section from contacting pins.

  • Patent number: 7873761
Abstract: The present invention relates to a data pipeline management system and more particularly to a minimum memory solution for unidirectional data pipeline management in a situation where both the Producer and Consumer need asynchronous access to the pipeline, data is non-atomic, and only the last complete (and validated) received message is relevant and once a data read from/write to the pipeline is initiated, that data must be completely processed. The data pipeline management system according to the invention can be implemented as a circular queue of as little as three entries and an additional handshake mechanism, implemented as a set of indices that can fit in a minimum of six bits (2×2+2×1). Both the Producer and Consumer will have a 2 bit index indicating where they are in the queue, and a 1 bit binary value indicating a special situation. Both parties can read all the indices but can only write their own, i.e. P and wrapP for the Producer and C and wrapC for the Consumer.

  • Publication number: 20110010564
Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide a delayed clock signal to a plurality of serially connected processing elements, such as a bidirectional pipeline processor. The processing elements include forward and reverse processing paths and forward and reverse processing time intervals along the respective paths. The forward and reverse processing time intervals begin when a block of data, such as encryption data, is gated into an individual processing element for processing and terminate when the processed block of data is gated into a subsequent adjacent processing element along the respective forward or reverse processing path. A clock signal distribution circuit provides a clock signal to the plurality of processing elements such that the clock signal arrives at successive processing elements along the clock signal distribution circuit with an increasing amount of delay so that one of the forward or reverse processing time intervals is greater than the other.

  • Publication number: 20110006808
Abstract: Input/Output (I/O) pin circuits, devices, methods and systems are implemented in various fashions. According to one such method, a valid signal level is provided for a pin of an integrated circuit (IC) die. Responsive to a reset signal, a first mode (304) is entered where one of a pull-up circuit or pull-down circuit is enabled (308, 310) to set the pin to the valid signal level. A change in signal level of the pin that is a deviation from the valid signal level is detected (312). Responsive to detecting the change, a second mode (314) is entered where the one of a pull-up circuit or pull-down circuit is disabled (316).
