Abstract: A method is provided for the decontamination of wood chip dryer flue gas containing wood particles and hydrocarbons which comprises contacting hot flue gas with an aqueous quench liquid to produce a wood particle-containing liquid and a hydrocarbon-containing gasiform product, removing wood particles from the liquid by gravity after densifying the particles with high density colloidal particles and removing hydrocarbons from the gasiform product by contact with an alkaline solution.
