  • Patent number: 8666039
Abstract: A voice traffic gateway including: a voice traffic input, a voice traffic output, a first domain router, non-secure warning (NSW) tone application apparatus and a signalling filter. The input receives voice traffic including voice messages and signalling messages from a first traffic domain. The output delivers output voice messages and signalling messages to a second, different traffic domain. The first domain router routes voice messages to the NSW apparatus and routes signalling messages to the signalling filter. The NSW apparatus applies a NSW tone to a received voice message to form an output voice message. The signalling filter compares a feature of a received signalling message with a reference feature. The signalling filter will pass a signalling message if the signalling message feature is the same as the reference feature and will block a signalling message if the signalling message feature is not the same as the reference feature.

  • Patent number: 8665421
Abstract: A laser-based infrared countermeasure (IRCM) system is disclosed. The IRCM system includes a set of receive optics, a dichroic filter, first and second detectors, a lens module and a laser. Receive optics are configured to receive optical information. The lens module reflects the optical information from the receive optics to the dichroic filter. The dichroic filter selectively splits the optical information to the first and second detectors. The first and second detectors, each of which is formed by a single-pixel detector, detects a potential missile threat from the optical information. Based on information collected by the first and second detectors, the laser sends laser beams to neutralize any missile threat.

  • Patent number: 8666206
Abstract: An asymmetric slotted waveguide and method for fabricating the same. The slotted waveguide is constructed in silicon-on-insulator using a Complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) process. One or more wafers can be coated with a photo resist material using a photolithographic process in order to thereby bake the wafers via a post apply bake (PAB) process. An anti-reflective coating (TARC) can be further applied on the wafers and the wafers can be exposed on a scanner for the illumination conditions. After a post exposure bake (PEB), the wafers can be developed in a developer using a puddle develop process. Finally, the printed wafers can be processed using a shrink process to reduce the critical dimension (CD) of the slot and thereby achieve an enhanced asymmetric slotted waveguide that is capable of guiding the optical radiation in a wide range of optical modulation applications using an electro-optic polymer cladding.

  • Patent number: 8664602
Abstract: An apparatus and method for a wafer level vacuum package uncooled microbolometer focal plane array (FPA) on a wafer level substrate with a thin film getter-reflector (G-R). The G-R removes gas from the vacuum package and is reflective in the frequency band of the FPA. Sensor pixels are supported about a quarter-wavelength above the G-R which is within the perimeter of the imaging array. The package is evacuated through a single aperture, and vacuum is maintained for the lifetime of the FPA. Imaging sensor size is reduced while maintaining resolution by reducing non-imaging area.

  • Patent number: 8664807
Abstract: A system and method for distributing the power of an electromagnetic signal is presented. In one embodiment, a power distribution cavity includes, a planar cavity, input ports and output ports. The planar cavity is formed with a metallic sheet in the shape of a star pattern with a plurality of elongated star arms extending from a round center portion of the metallic sheet. The input ports are attached to the round center portion of the metallic sheet for receiving an input signal. The signals entering the cavity from the input ports creating independent resonant modes within the cavity that combine producing a tapered aperture distribution of signals at the output ports. The output ports are attached near to the outward ends of the elongated star arms. The planar cavity is thus configured to propagate electromagnetic fields at the output ports that were excited within the cavity by the input ports.

  • Patent number: 8665087
Abstract: Common handheld transceivers operating on different frequencies with differing protocols can be provided with a mini module attached to the handheld transceiver that not only converts the audio information available from the handheld to the format and frequency of the temporary incident area network (20), the mini module also provides a sensor platform coupled to a wide variety of sensors whose data gathering capabilities in the vicinity of the individual are used to provide an incident commander or other individuals at nodes on the network with data to ascertain the conditions at the incident scene in the vicinity of the individual. Thus not only can information pertaining to the immediate health of and danger to emergency personnel be ascertained quickly, the transmission of sensor and image data over the same network provides situational awareness for the incident commanders and indeed for all those coupled to nodes on the network.

  • Patent number: 8661052
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed that allow for automated tracking of changes to software modules between two or more software projects that use functionally similar but otherwise different software modules. The techniques can be used, for instance, to manage similar or identical changes to multiple otherwise independent software products. Thus, in accordance with an example embodiment, a software change that has been successfully applied to a first software product having a given functionality can be readily identified and applied to another software product that is independent of the first software product but can benefit from a similar software change.

  • Patent number: 8659989
Abstract: A system and method for calculating a time of arrival (TOA) of an electromagnetic signal is presented. A method receives a fast Fourier transform (FFT) signal that is a FFT of an original electromagnetic signal containing symbol data. The FFT signal is either multiplied or divided with a value to remove the symbol data. Removing the symbol data generates a perturbed data values representing perturbed signal with a perturbed covariance. The method calculates a perturbed covariance of the perturbed data values. After the perturbed covariance is calculated, the method at least partially corrects the perturbed covariance to produce a corrected covariance. The TOA of the original electromagnetic signal is calculated based, at least in part, on the perturbed covariance.

  • Patent number: 8660671
Abstract: What is provided is a receiver-on-a-chip comprising a monolithic integrated circuit that reduces the receiver to a cigarette-pack-sized assembly mountable directly at an antenna element, with a much-increased operational bandwidth and instantaneous bandwidth, increased dynamic range and with a two-order-of-magnitude decrease in size and weight. Moreover, because of the elimination of all of the I/O drivers and attendant circuitry, power consumption is reduced by two-thirds, whereas the mean time before failure is increased to 10,000 hours due to the robustness of the monolithic integrated circuit and use of fiber optics.
