  • Patent number: 11287232
Abstract: The system and method for an additively manufactured self-destructive delay device is a bellow/lattice structure or other form. The device may be installed as a replacement to a previous device, where the device yields under the deployment force at a specific rate to match the time-displacement curve established by a previous hydraulic delay device. The delay device has a virtually unlimited lifespan, is cheap to manufacture, and can be adaptable to other loads and conditions for use in or on other platforms. This solution can be applied anywhere where mechanical delay devices are needed within systems. Some examples include wing/fin deployment mechanisms, safety crumple zones, or devices that act as shear pins.

  • Patent number: 11280617
Abstract: The dual mode INS high performance system using an IMM mixing method presented in this disclosure utilizes a MEMS-based IMU as the inertial sensor due, in part, to low cost and low power consumption. A dual filtering system, one with fifteen state EKF and the other with twenty one state EKF is mixed in real-time to address dynamic overlapping and continuous transition from a low dynamic mode to a high dynamic mode. The IMM estimation scheme is employed to compute the real-time mixing coefficients via the IMM probability mixing formulation. The present disclosure is applicable to earth to orbit platforms, spinning projectiles, and the like to successfully reconstruct the object's state estimate vector even under a high angular rate and high g operating environment.

  • Patent number: 11251601
Abstract: Techniques are provided for non-volatile detection of an overvoltage condition in a circuit of interest. A circuit implementing the techniques according to an embodiment includes a fuse configured to provide a non-volatile indication of an overvoltage event, the indication associated with an open state of the fuse. The circuit also includes a voltage controlled current switch coupled in series to the fuse. The voltage controlled current switch is configured to enable current flow through the fuse in response to a supply voltage exceeding a threshold value associated with the overvoltage event. The current causes the fuse to switch from a closed state to an open state providing a non-volatile record of the overvoltage event. In some embodiments, the voltage controlled current switch can be a Zener diode with a breakdown voltage based on the threshold value, or a transistor configured to switch into conducting mode at the threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20220043639
Abstract: The system and method for decoupling algorithms from a Mission Data Tool suite, or the like, into a scalable, modular and multithreaded tool set callable from a variety of environments. The system generates data objects representing inputs, outputs and field validation capable of being accessed from a framework callable from Java or C#, for example. Data objects are defined in an abstract Independent Definition Language (IDL) and the objects are then generated into the target languages for use by a software component's application programming interface (API). The resulting generated code may also contain serialization/deserialization routines needed for object transfer between different systems in a seamless manner. In some cases, transfer of the objects, algorithmic generation of data into the objects, and the transfer of outputs back to the calling system is possible with minimal overhead and interaction on either end.

  • Publication number: 20220034669
Abstract: A navigation path planning method includes receiving an initial position of a navigation path and a terminal position of the navigation path. The initial position represents a current position of a vehicle or other platform that is navigating to the terminal or target position. The method includes calculating the navigation path from the initial position to the terminal position as an objective function of a navigation reliability term and a navigation accuracy term. The navigation reliability term represents a probability of successfully reaching the terminal position along the navigation path, and the navigation accuracy term represents the probable distance between the terminal position and the navigation path. The calculated navigation path is provided to a navigation system to cause the platform to navigate along the calculated navigation path.

  • Patent number: 11221194
Abstract: An integrated architecture and its associated sensors and processing software subsystems are defined and developed allowing a conventional unguided bullet to be transformed into a guided bullet without the use of an on-board inertial measurement unit (IMU). Some important SW components of the present disclosure include a target state estimator (TSE); a bullet state estimator (BSE); Multi-Object Tracking and Data Association; NTS GL; and a Data Link. Pre-conversion of two angles and range information of an OI sensor from spherical coordinates into Cartesian coordinates eliminates the Jacobian dependency in the H matrix for the BSE, thus increasing the miss distance performance accuracy of the bullet target engagement system.

  • Patent number: 11223365
Abstract: A system and method for suppressing aperture noise resulting from clock jitter associated with a Nyquist analog-to-digital converter (ADC) using self-referred time measurements are provided. The system comprises of a clock, a delay element, a time subtractor, a time-to-digital converter, a filter element, a first digital subtractor, an integrator, a differentiator, and a multiplier. Each of the delay element, time subtractor, time-to-digital converter, filter element, first digital subtractor, integrator, and multiplier is electrically connected in parallel with the ADC, which allows the clock to generate a clock signal that advances into the system and the ADC in order to isolate and suppress the noise aperture associated with the ADC. As such, the architecture of the system is configured to isolate and suppress aperture noise resulting from clock jitter associated with an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to allow the output signal of the system be independent of the aperture noise.

  • Patent number: 11215454
Abstract: A system for finding up in a projectile flight relative to earth. The system having a transmitter which transmits polarized reference signals to a guidance sub-system on the projectile. The guidance sub-system includes a magnetometer and polarized and non-polarized receivers. Measurements from the magnetometer are used to determine a general up direction. The polarized and non-polarized receivers are arranged such that, during rotation of the projectile, reference signals received by the polarized receiver modulate whereas reference signals received by the non-polarized receivers are unaffected. A ratio of the strengths of the signals received by the polarized and non-polarized receivers determines alignment of a vertical axis. From the general up direction and alignment of the vertical axis, a precise up direction of the projectile in flight relative to the earth can be determined.
